I am graphing traffic data from a Cisco 2924 switch. I am trying to understand the maximum inbound and outbound values on the graphs. The maximum inbound traffic on the daily graph is 434.87kb/s however the weekly graph is only showing a value of 177.98kb/s and the monthly graph is showing 86.78kb/s. Why does the maximum value drop for the different graphs? Since I have just started graphing this switch, should the maximum value not be the same for all three graphs? The only major change besides label changes has been the use of the "Turn Bytes into Bits" CDEF function on each graph.
Thanks,
Jim
"Maximum" Does Not Seem To Be Maximum

This is what I thought too but after re-reading the rrdtool docs over and over again, I finally understood that the graphs are based upon data that is collected and averaged at different intervals.
