"About to Spawn a Remote Process" cmd windows do n

Post by geo_2045 »

Hi guys,
I had cacti running without problems for several months until suddenly it stopped showing any graphs.
I did a repair on the mysql database and I can see the graphs now, but they are empty.
I tried to run the poller by hand but the cmd windows open but don't close. They stay open forever.

Also, I have enabled debug mode and I all i get in the log is:
01/13/2006 02:59:58 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] DEBUG: About to Spawn a Remote Process [CMD: c:\php\php-win.exe, ARGS: -q c:\mycacti\website\cacti/cmd.php 29 36]
01/13/2006 02:59:58 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] DEBUG: About to Spawn a Remote Process [CMD: c:\php\php-win.exe, ARGS: -q c:\mycacti\website\cacti/cmd.php 15 28]
01/13/2006 02:59:58 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] DEBUG: About to Spawn a Remote Process [CMD: c:\php\php-win.exe, ARGS: -q c:\mycacti\website\cacti/cmd.php 0 14]

I did a small search on the forum and I found some users having similar problem, but my installation was working ok.
If you can point me somewhere I would appreciate it.

I've never found/heard of a fix for that problem...when I was experiencing it, it magically went away.

1) What versions of everything are you using? Installed the patches?
2) You said you repaired your mysql database? Possibly something else in it is broken.
3) Sure the user account running the cacti scheduled task has the proper rights on cmd.exe, rrdtool.exe, etc ?

Hi again,
I changed the poller from cmp.php to cactid and it works now.
Any ideas of what could be the problem?
cheers,
george

ps: cactid did not run as cactiuser@localhost. It coudn't connect to the database. I had to change the cactid.conf file to be cactiuser@IP and create this user on the database (in addition to cactiuser@localhost that already existed)

Could try using cactid 0.8.6g which was just released.
