cactid 0.8.6g final probs

Post by Jeppe »

Hey,

something changed in host down detection between the final and beta3?

While beta3 worked ok this final version decides 1/3 of my hosts are down
with SNMP timeout. Tried changing timeout values, snmp version,
oids/request, no change. I'm using SNMP as the down detection method.

So I'm back to the beta.

Net-snmp 5.1.2 / rhel4 / x86_64

Thanks.

Could it be SNMP request for uptime?

In my experience cacti wants to check for OID .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0. If your device does not know about it, cacti thinks that your host is down. See my wining about it at http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=11430

Thanks for the tip, but I don't think that is the cause here.
The OID is available on all my devices. Can see it on the device page in Cacti fine too. I am still to look into this a bit deeper.

Same problem with SNMP timeouts on valid hosts using cactid 0.8.6g. poll always works against the localhost though, just remote hosts timeout.

Also, I noticed that the internal version of cactid 0.8.6g still shows as 0.8.6f! Confusing...
