Stuck cactid processes?

Post by rking »

First off, cactid is absolutely great, it cut our polling time from 3 mins to 15 seconds. Anyhow, a bit of a problem.

Once in a while, I am having cactid processes get stuck. They never die, and don't appear to be doing anything, either. Eventually, 5 or 6 of them will start to drive the load average on the machine over 5.0.

An strace of these stuck processes doesn't reveal much:

[root@nagios log]# !st
strace -p 7923
Process 7923 attached - interrupt to quit
futex(0x8dfba0, FUTEX_WAIT, 2, NULL

It just sits there waiting.

I don't really know what more information I can provide. This is the latest cactid and latest cacti. The host is Linux, but only 2.4.22. It looks to me to be a threading issue, maybe an upgrade to kernel 2.6.x is in order?

Let me know if I can prove any more information!

Is there any update on this issue, did installing the last release worked?

We seem to experience the same problem on linux kernel 3.x

Thanks !

Should be fixed with Cactid 0.8.6g.

Sorry, other higher priority stuff came up, you know how it goes.

Installing the new version right now, won't post on this thread again unless the problem persists. Thanks!
