WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result: ...

Post by cleaner »

Just updated to the latest build and now some of my hosts are comming back with that error message. In the debug log the only thing the oid returns is U. It seems that some of the snmp stuff is screwed up. Anyone see this before?

Please switch Logging Level to DEBUG and post again. Is it always the same OID that fails?

Thanks for posting this. Please try to snmpwalk against those host/OIDs from command line. And please have a couple of runs with cmd.php instead of cactid and notice, whether there's any difference.

I have flushed the cache a few times while trying to figure this out.

poller.php is getting the data though. I am going to switch and let it run that way overnight.

Any ideas what causes this? I am running the latest release of cacti (h) and cactid (f) on freeBSD 6.0-STABLE.

As to cactid, there are some issues. But I'm not sure that they do relate to your problem. Personally, I'd like to recommend at least the f1 release. cactid-0.8.6g was released lately. It appears that problem do occur with CPU and User info. As I asked before, please snmpwalk against those from cli and post your findings. This would be of importance for further debugging

Code: Select all

[/usr/home/paul]# snmpwalk white .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.10.1.3
UCD-SNMP-MIB::laLoad.1 = STRING: 1.13
UCD-SNMP-MIB::laLoad.2 = STRING: 1.64

Sorry for having been imprecise. But you log shows

Code: Select all

CACTID: Host[10] DS[60] SNMP: v2: x.y.z, dsname: load_1min, oid: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.10.1.3.1, value: U
So you configured your target system for SNMP V2. To check this, your snmpwalk must contain -v 2c.

Just glanced at the title of the post. I had the same error in my logs when I hade datasources assigned to none. When I removed them I stopped seeing the error. I did not have time to read entire post, so ignore if it has already been tried.

How do you find those?

I've deleted lots of graphs - saving the data sources for fear of losing data used by other graphs (since I'm not as up on how cacti uses its resource files as I ought to be)... and I get LOTS of these messages in my log file (though, since everything generally works, I don't pay much attention).

I have this problem too,

It's seems to be in the result of my router :

qos-box:/ # snmpwalk -v1 -c public 10.0.0.138 .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.102
interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifInOctets.102 = Counter32: 84831244

There are no problems ... but cacti seems to detect the space (between "Counter32:" and "84831244". According to function.php (validate_result())
a space or ":" or "!" is concidered like an error ...

i do an explode(" ",$output) when i detect a space ... all goes fine now :)

Where did you make this change to the code?

This is a very old post. This bug has since long been fixed. Of course, there may be a different issue by now

I still seem to be encountering this issue. What else might I be able to check?

sudo /usr/sbin/spine --verbosity=5 5 5

Code: Select all

09/16/2011 01:57:58 PM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[5] DS[165] SNMP: v3: ***.***.***.***, dsname: proc, oid: .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.1.6.0, value: U
snmpget -l authPriv -v 3 -u ********** -A ********** -X ********** -a *** -x *** ***.***.***.***:*** .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.1.6.0

Code: Select all

HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSystemProcesses.0 = Gauge32: 73
All other data sources for this host are working fine so I know the device configuration in Cacti is good.

Operating System: Ubuntu 11.04
Webserver: Apache 2.2.17
Cacti: 0.8.7.g
Spine: 0.8.7e
MySQL: 14.14 Distrib 5.1.54
PHP: 5.3.5-1ubuntu7.2
RRDTool: 1.4.x
Net-SNMP: 5.4.3 (Cacti insists on using this version although 5.4.7 is installed; probably due to installing Cacti using Aptitude rather than compiling from source)
