"Host did not respond to SNMP" rarely on localhost

Post by ralfk »

I am having problems with the poller connecting to localhost.
From time to time (let's say 10 times a day) the poller is reporting

Code: Select all

Host[1] SNMP: Host did not respond to SNMP
Then, the poller does not fetch data from localhost and graphs are having a gap until the poller starts working again (which is normally after 10 minutes or so).

This is strange to me, since SNMP is working fine on localhost. When I manually start snmpget, I always get an answer. And when the poller can connect, the results are fine.

My second device/host is working without a problem, also using SNMP. So, this problem only occurs for localhost !?!?

System Info:

OS: Linux (SuSE 10.0)
Cacti: 0.8.6h (but problem occured also in 0.8.6.g)
Poller: cmd.php
Devices to be actively polled: 2
Downed Host Detection: SNMP - Reliable

Any suggestions what is going on ?
