problems with cacti-cactid-0.8.6f-1

Post by mauro »

Any ideas how to fix the problem "SNMP Result: Host did not respond to SNMP"? Everything works OK if I use cmd.php.

Fedora Core2
cactid-0.8.6f-1
cacti-0.8.6g
PHP 4.3.10

Thanks,

Mauro

What are the Settings for the Poller related to Downed Host Detection? Try "SNMP - Reliable"?

That's what I'm using. I forgot to mention that I've also applied the patches available for cacti-0.8.6g.

Thanks,

The log does not give any additional info on why snmp is failing.
Personally, I see two more debugging possibilities:
- changing the cactid code to produce more debugging info; required C knowledge
- tcpdump/ethereal to see, what's on the wire when polling Host[20]
As I'm not familiar with cactid code, I'd choose the second one

Thank you for your reply,

I tried using tcpdump but as expected nothing went through when running "./cactid 20 20".

For the time being I think I'll have to live without cactid.
