VB scripting woes

Post by matguy »

I'm trying to get vb scripting to work as a data source and am just running in to walls left and right. Is there a "good" guide for getting these working on a Windows 2003 server.

Right now I'm running in to a lack of XML file and no good template or guide on how to create one in the proper format that Cacti will like. But of course, that's just the current visible problem I'm having, I have no idea if that would even fix it, it's just the current hurdle. I'm just using the sample VB script for percentage of HD space free as a proof of concept before I move on to other scripts, and I have tried the script manually and it does return values. It's just very confusing with the multiple layers of work to just get a single script to provide info to make a graph.

In the end we're working on putting together a simple script to return a file or folder size (using it to track Exchange database sizes) and the formulating of a VB script won't be an issue for us, but it's getting the returns in to a graph that's just banging us around.

Have you read through the Cacti manual for some help? http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/htm ... graph.html

What part isn't specifically working for ya?

Alright, I have the random numbers sample working well, nice crazy jagged line. I have my VB script that returns a file size integer when fed a file location. Now I'm just working on getting that output in to the graph.
