Problem with Cisco 1700 router? [SOLVED]

Post by AlenP »

Hi all!
I have a strange problem with c1700 router. Everything seems to be going ok while creating new device - snmp returns valid information about IOS version and correct interfaces, but when I select interfaces which I would like to monitor, poller returns no information on them. I have tried monitoring interfaces on 2800 and 3700 routers and they are working great, but 1700 only wants to return cpu usage information and nothing more.
Poller returns this error on c1700 interface:

Either there are no items in the cache or polling is disabled

I have validated my installation, checked php, mysql, rrdtool and everything seems to be in order. I double checked interafaces and created my device over and over again but the problem persists.

sh ver returns:

Cisco IOS Software, C1700 Software (C1700-IPVOICE-M), Version 12.3(8)T6, RELEASE SOFTWARE(fc2)

ROM: System Bootstrap, Version 12.2(7r)XM2, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

System image file is "flash:c1700-ipvoice-mz.123-8.T6.bin"

Cisco 1760 (MPC860P) processor (revision 0x500) with 114688K/16384K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID FOC081729MV (1759238828), with hardware revision 0000

hope this helps

update: I went deeper into the network and discovered that some 2800 routers respond and some dont.
Could it possibly be IOS version?
version that responds seems to be Version 12.3(8)T8 and the one that doesn't is Version 12.3(8)T7
Anyone seen anything like this?

1) Check what downtime detection method you're using (settings | poller). Change the ping type to ICMP. Also might want to change the detection type to just snmp and/or ICMP.

2) In data sources, select your 2800 from the dropdown list. Are there any queries for it?

Thanx for your reply BSOD2600 - i made all the changes you suggested but I had no luck with them.
Then I started experimenting with php and when I changed lines in php.ini

max_execution_time = 120
max_input_time = 60
memory_limit = 128M

AND when I changed settings/poller/Ping Timeout Value to 1000 and settings/poller/Ping Retry Count to 5 i started getting some results!

So, to summarise the problem was in PHP settings and probably in cacti timeouts. Version of IOS, configuration or type of switch don't matter!

hope this thread helps someone else too :)
