mysql connect error.

Post by tclark »

Has anyone run into this problem when using cacti. This is happening intermittently.

Cannot connect to MySQL server on 'cacti.xxx.com'. Please make sure you have specified a valid MySQL database name in 'include/config.php'.

To fix this I sometimes have to do 5 or so page refreshes. I'm running version Version 0.8.6g, on a linux box

Thanks in advance.

Is your MySQL server running locally on that box? If so use localhost or 127.0.0.1 instead

I got the same problem

Hi,
I got the same problem.
I put a echo in lib/databases.php with the $host .... and the values are corect. It simply doesn't connect to the mysq.
I got a forum and other sites with mysql on the machine and they all work.
I can even connect from the mysql console with those parameters.
mysql -u user -p database -h host ... password.

The only thing that comes in mind, is that I have installed mysql 4.1.15 on the FC2.
Is there something else i can try?

i found the answer at page 9 or 10. can't remember the post exactly.
it has to do with mysql 4 storing passwords in another format then mysql 3
