Templates to Cisco uBR (SNR, FEC, Modems Ups, Interf Utiliz)

Post by Spark »

Hi all,
I made some templates Cisco uBR, the templates are:

Edited 1/12/2005

Interface Upstream SNR/FEC
Interface Upstream SNR
Interface Upstream Modems per Upstream
Interface Upstream Utilization
Interface Upstream UGS
Interface Utilization

You need to put in cacti/resource/snmp_queries/ the files:
snmp_queries/cable_interface_bw.xml
snmp_queries/modem_upstreams.xml
snmp_queries/upstream_fec.xml
snmp_queries/upstream_ugs_utilization.xml
snmp_queries/upstream_utilization.xml
snmp_queries/upstream_snr.xml (changed from upstreams_snr.xml to upstream_snr.xml)

And import template:
cacti_data_query_snmp_fec_upstream.xml
cacti_data_query_snmp_interface_bandwidth_utilization.xml
cacti_data_query_snmp_modems_per_upstreams.xml
cacti_data_query_snmp_ugs_upstream.xml
cacti_data_query_snmp_upstreams_snr.xml
cacti_data_query_snmp_upstreams_utilization.xml

The files have all the dependecies (Graph Templates, etc)

Exported from Version 0.8.6g and tested in a new instalation "Version 0.8.6g" and its working.

I hope its working for you ppl :D

Another change to see all the name, title etc... in Settings/Visual:
Graph Management
Maximum Title Length = 100 or more
Data Queries
Maximum Field Length = 100 or more
Data Sources
Maximum Title Length = 100 or more

#
You can check this Doc to understand better de SNR and FEC:

Thanks

Sorry I'm just a noob cacti user.

1. I placed the XML files in my {HOME}/cacti/resource/snmp_queries folder
2. Then I used CACTI --> Import Templates --> and imported all the templates with cacti*.

3. Then what?

I'm not seeing the templates in cacti? Am I missing a step?

Hi,
Than you can add devices :D

The files to put in {HOME}/cacti/resource/snmp_queries folder is:

snmp_queries/cable_interface_bw.xml
snmp_queries/modem_upstreams.xml
snmp_queries/upstream_fec.xml
snmp_queries/upstream_ugs_utilization.xml
snmp_queries/upstream_utilization.xml
snmp_queries/upstream_snr.xml (changed from upstreams_snr.xml to upstream_snr.xml)

And import template:
cacti_data_query_snmp_fec_upstream.xml
cacti_data_query_snmp_interface_bandwidth_utilization.xml
cacti_data_query_snmp_modems_per_upstreams.xml
cacti_data_query_snmp_ugs_upstream.xml
cacti_data_query_snmp_upstreams_snr.xml
cacti_data_query_snmp_upstreams_utilization.xml

I will test the templates in a new cacti instalation to check if are errors :P

Thanks

I'm trying to import these into Version 0.8.6g and there's no error, but none of these seem to import. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

Sparc-

Have you had a chance to upgrade Cacti and "re" export your templates yet. I would really like to try them also?

Thanks!

I got tired of waiting and finally made my own SNR templates that I will share if anyone wants them. There are two issues though.

Number 1.....I have a mixture of line cards throughout my network (1x6S, 1x6U, 2x8U, and 5x20S) so I had to make several different data templates.

Number 2..... Since I did not know any other method to do this, I actually made an individual data template for every possible US interface which is used to poll the specefic mib for that interface. For example on a 1x6 card I made 24 seperate data templates to gather the data. Then I created a new Graph template for each line card and used the 6 coresponding data templates for the US SNR data source for each graph. So I end up with one graph for each line card which graphs all the related US interfaces SNR.

Again this is a lot of templates. Somewhere around 70. So I would encourage you to make your own from scratch rather than trying to figure mine out. I am sure there is a much, much simplier way. I am just not familiar with how to create a xml file to do this all in one step.

These templates work greate except it cuts off on Upstream# at upstre.
So if I had a graph it would be titled like this
"area name - UBR - SNR - Cable1/0-upstre" it doesn't add the upstream port number. Did you do anything special to fix this?

If only I would have read your original post further. I fixed this by adding 100 to the field lengths. It works great. THANKS!

Hello,

I'm using Cacti 0.8.6c (Debian) and tried to import the templates, but got an error. I'm clicking on "Import Template", choosed the (local on my laptop based) first xml-file in the unzipped archiv and clicked on 'save'. Then an error message appeard: 'Error: XML: Hash version does not exist.'.

Any idea what I did wrong? EDIT: Does the templates only work with the cacti version they're taken from?

Regards,

Falk
