Does cacti delete .rrd files?

Post by mark_limkk »

Hello fellow cactis,

I tried to delete device/graphs etc... and still find those .rrd files intact inside my /rra directory.

Does cacti help to delete them?

Thanks.

Thanks. I noticed that every newly created rrd file ends with a running number. Does it stop at any value, or can we reset it?

You cannot reset this. Its an "autoincrement" value in mysql. There's a tool on te forum, called rrdcleaner, that may help deleting wasted space. It will be called via browser. In standard setup, you will have to modify permissions on the rra/ directory first, as the "normal" webserver's user will not be able to delete rrd files (for security reasons). Do not forget to change this back to standard settings afterwards.
Another approach is to list all rrds with "very old" last modification dates.
