Another: Broken graphs on a new install

Post by hodgeswalt »

I have one router defined within Cacti. When displaying the graph Detail tree, I see 5 broken graphs.

Sorry for the amount of detail, but hopefully the developer GODS will be able to spot my mistakes.

System:
Fedora Core 4 - no patches or updates applied
SELINUX disabled

php-4.3.8.tar.gz
rrdtool-1.2.11.tar.gz
published patches are applied

My devices consist of a Cisco 2610XM router.
I can ping the router from the Cacti server, I can telnet to the Cisco Router from the Cacti server. I have checked the SNMP community string, and it is correct - looked at the router config to verify.

Me too

I have this exact same problem as well, running RHEL3.

All files are being generated, and I am polling a Cisco 3750 switch.

Just trying to help...
I just ran this command on my on box (rrdtool 1.2.11 patched). It fails on the COMMENT lines. To try this on your own, please cut the command from Graph Debug to cli and run it. It noticed errors on the COMMENT statement here. When deleting both, it worked for me. Not knowing why, will need more investigation

FOUND IT (heureka, as old romans would say)!
COMMENT contains unescaped ":". So
- remove ":" from comment
- or get updated/corrected/patched code (works on cactid 0.8.6g patched)
This should help.

These are the offending statements of the rrdtool graph statements. If it goes
COMMENT:"Total In\: 8.46 MB\n" \
...
COMMENT:"Total Out\: 1.58 MB"
it works. Output of this kind (escaping the ":" sign) is produced by the current cacti version (at least on my host  ). The other way round would look like
COMMENT:"Total In 8.46 MB\n" \
...
COMMENT:"Total Out 1.58 MB"
Even this works for me. You see, ":" is omitted here. I Suppose you would achieve this by editing the Graph Item Comment and remove the ":" from the text field.

Hmmm

Post by beeudoublez »

Mine was actually a little different - I thought I was using rrdtool 1.2, whereas I was actually using 1.0.

Cutting and pasting the whole command to rrdtool gave me the output about the slope-mode option and how it isn't supported

Now I just have to compile rrdtool 1.2.10!!
