Post by bigbrother »

Hi

I'm a newbie in cacti :D

I load the "ucd/net - CPU Usage" Template but the file "localhost_cpu_nice_x.rrd" will not be created...

Why is that???

I installed cacti very well and it also works fine... but even this things...

Thanks for help

First thing to look at (if this is the first graph you created) are the permissions for directory rra/ (and log/). See the docs for more.

Permissions for directory rra/ and log/ are correct.

I added the "Unix - Ping Host" template and I don't have problems with it.
But if I use the "ucd/net - CPU Usage" template... than cacti is not able
to show the output.

Does somebody have experience?

Thanx

Next: select your host from the Devices List. Is the a red error text on the upper left corner? If it is, you did not happen to configure snmp correctly. You have to enable snmp on your remote target host. Please verify this from command line using

Code: Select all

snmpwalk -c <you community string> -v 1 <your remote host> system
Only if this will return some data, you're done on this.

@ lvm

I made all these things and now the graph is drawn...

But nothings in the CPU graph is drawn. If I increase CPU load phisicaly on the device, nothing will be drawn the next time after the polling...

Why is that???

Thanx

By "CPU graph" you refer to the graphing of the CPU of a server? As there are CPU graphs for Routers as well (but with a different OID). Remember, that the HOST MIB is used for CPU graphs and and not all snmp enabled hosts will respond to that MIB (e.g. AIX does not). So please try follwoing snmpwalk

Code: Select all

snmpwalk -c <community> -v 1 <host> .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11
and post the results.
