Same for me.

Anyone know of a good template for the canopy backhauls? Or can you use these templates too?

I find it interesting that is uses RSSI in the thousands, and power is the -70 etc. All other wireless devices use it differently. We just came into a bunch of canopies and are using them. But I can't graph the power or some of the others. Half work, half don't. .8.7b

I am currently running Canopy 9.0 and cannot get the following to work:

SM:
-dbm
-Temp

AP:
-SM Count
-Temp

I have tried using both templates from the first part of this topic and do have the perl scripts in place. Does anyone have a template that works with 9.0 or can tell me what I need to change? Thanks!

Please provide an snmpwalk for the OIDs mentioned in the perl script. I do not have such devices, so only giving access to such a device will allow to fix it on my own

I figured it out. Pretty dumb mistake on my part. The scripts were not executable by the cacti user. A simple chmod and things took off. Thanks for your help!

BTB: Why the hell are you using scripts?
I'm supporting a Cacti User running some Canopy stuff out there and added some nice new graphs on his request. IMHO, there's no need for scripts; all pure SNMP, if I'm not mistaken.

Not really sure why I am using scripts, I'm kind of new to this whole cacti graphing thing. I used to use MRTG and had to have MIB's to get the correct info from my SM/AP's. What I do know is that my graphs would not get info for temp/RSSI/jitter until both the perl scripts(getCanopyStats) were set to exec by the user that does my cacti polling and that was ALL I had to do. In other words - I'm a total n00b so lay off! :)

Something I have been wondering about is how I could automate the process of adding SM's into my Cacti graphs. I currently have about 500 SM's out there that I need to get into graphs and add anywhere from 3 to 10 more every week. It's very tedious and time consuming. Anyone ever do anything like this?

I've been looking at this:
http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t ... highlight=
but I'm not sure if I can get it to work right.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

If anybody is still looking for Canopy graphing pointers, I have some pretty decent graphs of (AP's): ping latency, registered SM count, ethernet traffic and (BH's - including PTP) traffic, ping latency.

I did these by running some manual snmp queries against the devices and picking out the appropriate OID's (referenced by the Motorola website).

I would be happy to share if anyone is still in need.

Which SW version of Canopy do you run? I noticed, that whispLinkTable is not filled with V9.0 as it was with V8.1.
I've created RSSI, Power Level, Jitter and Link Traffic stuff for an ISP.

We actually use v8.x and v7.x on some of our equipment. I think we also have a few v6.x out there too. I'm not graphing individual SMs as there would be too much (maybe for the future, though).

Currently I'm graphing Canopy APs and BHs (a couple of Canopy PTP series BHs which Cacti didn't find the interfaces for automatically).

Too much? What is too much for cacti? > 10,000 devices?

PMP400 5.4GHz OFDM

Post by jnelson2000 »

We have 20 PMP400 being used for an upcoming event. I cannot graph dbm with the attached templates. They work fine for non OFDM SM's, but no go on the OFDM platform. The SNMP Walk conforms the correct OID. Grpahs just say nan

If someone thinks they might fix, let mer know and I can provide a public IP to gain access.

AP no temp
SM no dbm and temp

OS is 9.4.2

Just getting started graphing canopy

Post by scrotorr »

I could really use some help figuring out how to graph canopy APs and SMs. I figured out how to manually add a unit as a device, but I'm lost when it comes to graphing what I need to:
RSSI, Jitter, and Traffic for SMs
Power Level, Reg Count, GPS Sync, and Traffic for APs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
