Hi gilles,gilles wrote:jerrison,
you can create a tree and put all your devices in
then use a deny default policy in user management and only give access to specific devices
when the user use tree view, he will only see devices he have access
this is exactly the setup that i have. I only have certain trees for certain users (a group feature in some future cacti version would be awesome ) "allowed". While this access-scheme works when viewing "tree-structure" in the manage-plugin, it fails when users switch to any other view (full, list etc.). I really need users to NOT see anything besides their own tree.
And i didn´t find a way to restrict users in the manage-plugin to have only the tree-view.
Thanks for your answer!
André
jerrison,
when you are on full, list and simple view, only allowed devices are listed
(not group/site view, this is why you can disabled it)
but whole trees are displayed, need to patch this

hi gilles,
are you sure that i can´t view anything besides the trees that you have permission for? i will test this again tomorrow but i think i was able to see all devices with a test-user that had very limited permissions.
i´ll let you know .
oh, i use web basic authentication if that makes any difference.

Enhancement idea
In this plugin, it would be nice to indicate failover "pairs" of interfaces. I have a need to monitor a highly redundant network, where many of the core connections are backed up by other links. Many times our primary link goes down, but we don't know about it because other interfaces pick up the slack.
Manage 0.6.1 -> Event Reporting ->All My devices reboo
Mr Manage,
When are you dishing out a 'rebooted' event every 5 minutes on all my devices (Cisco/HP and alike) when I know my babies haven't been rebooted (Not my core switches!)
Ihave check system uptime enabled/disabled and it does the same thing to me..
I have 'gather cisco info' enabled...didn't help, wondering what it does to me..
Thanks
G

Re: Enhancement idea
Excellent Idea! Now I have two/three devices added for the same physical router with redundant connections...I can't ask the secondary link to send alert because it will not be up unless primary is down. Messed up tree view?
Hi,
I'm new to this plugin and it seems, that my tree view is messed up and is unable to print German umlauts. Or is this just the way it was meant to be (dis)played?

Tree view doesn't "roll up" results
I have Manage setup in tree view. It appears that the numbers of devices and their status only "rolls up" one level, and only for a single level branch in the tree. See my attachment. the top branch has a single device and it rolls up it's caution status. The second branch has another branch below with 4 devices. The status for those does not roll up to the higher branches.
What I was picturing was something like What's up gold or SNMPC where you can see the status overall at the top branch and then drill down to see what the problem is. Was that the intent? If so, is there something configuration wise that I need to do?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for that - the status now gets rolled up.
It's exactly what I was looking for.
