Just re-tested the installer on a clean WinXP SP3 VM. Ran the installer, followed post-install, rebooted, and then tried the website which worked as expected.
Following directions is key to a successful install.

A small request..
I ran the installer once choosing only the Cacti essential components.
Now I want to install some plugins so when I am running it again it is saying that it will overwrite all configurations.
Can you add a "modify" feature to the installer so that components can be added/removed at a later stage too?

Possibly. It's a slippery slope though since a user could've modified the various paths since the installer was last ran. Far too hard to try and detect all of the paths required, which is why a Modify option has not been added.
I'll look into it.

Re: Windows Installer [Cacti 0.8.8a] [Updated 2012-09-13]
I have the 0.8.7b version already installed using the windows installer, and now I want to either upgrade or make a new installation for the latest 0.8.8a. The issue is: how can I keep/backup my graphs raw data (I may rebuild the graphs again, but just need to keep the history data)
Thank you
Thank you

Per the first post, follow the upgrade guide for backing up the database, scripts, and rrd files before installing the new version.

Hi
This is my first post. I have the Cacti sw running fine on a W2K3 box using the cacti installer.
My query is : is there a way to use my Cacti server to make WMI queries against Windows boxes?
(I have seen references to a WMI plugin for Cacti on Linux but none so far for Cacti on Windows. Such software will save me needing to install the snmp informant on any Windows boxes I want to monitor.)
regards
Derek

Hmmm ... to answer my own question! - I found this link that may fit the bill : http://forums.cacti.net/about13562.html with subject "At last - Windows Services monitoring with WMI!"
I'll read up on this. Any other ideas please let me know ...
cheers

Cacti installed correctly. For us newbies, though, in your post-installation documentation c:\cacti\apache2\htdocs\cacti\docs\html\post-install.html, would you please add the following:
"To access the Cacti home screen, in your browser, type http://localhost/cacti ."
Thank you.
"To access the Cacti home screen, in your browser, type http://localhost/cacti ."
Thank you.

Hi,
I have followed instructions in self installer but have an issue with Web Browser. I get "page cannot be found" HTTP error 404.
IIS is running.
I uninstalled and reinstalled this time using Apache. It only installed Apache and not the PHP directory.
I uninstalled again and re-installed without plug-ins using IIS again. IIS is running, MySQL is installed and scheduled task is created.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Windows Installer [Cacti 0.8.8a] [Updated 2012-09-13]
Just tried to install this (my first time) on a fresh Win7 Pro SP1 64 bit. Needed to install IIS and CGI first.
The following error occurred (snipped from log):
Output folder: C:\Users\Operator\AppData\Local\Temp\nsv4CE8.tmp
Launching MySQL x64 5.5.27 Installer...
Extract: mysql.msi... 100%
Execute: msiexec /i "C:\Users\Operator\AppData\Local\Temp\nsv4CE8.tmp\mysql.msi" /qn USERNAME="Valued Cacti Customer"
MySQL installer exited with: 1603
* FATAL ERORR *
Error reading MySQL install location
Any ideas?
P.S. - Yes error (erorr) is spelled wrong in the log.
[SOLVED]
Tried to install mysql itself and got a more robust error message:
"Could not access network location \Hewlett-Packard\\"
Googled it, fixed the registry and away we go.

What registry key was required to be fixed? Link?YukonRob wrote:[SOLVED]

I'll be releasing an updated installer once the next Cacti is released.
