Are the SNMP issues only if you're running Cacti under Windows? Because I haven't seen those issues here nor have I made those edits, but everything works for me.

Streaker69 - sorry, didn't see your post here. The edits for SNMP just tidy up the code, and are not essential. However, I did notice that the SNMP based detection started to work again on my system (Windows) after sorting out the code.

Do you plan on including any user Auth so I would be able to assign thru cacti the user permissions to devices ?

Thanks for your work Gilles!
Manage is really great(but I can't get it to work properly under .87a).

I would also be happy to test the new beta, and give feedback on what is (not)working.

streaker69: sort of(but I'll start over with just your corrections when I have time).
I did correct the SQL statements(mainly missing ; 's ), and corrected the missing global.php includes in some files where I did see warnings in the php error logs. After this most of manage works(however with some problems with Windows Services monitoring).

Another problem I have: When I enable managing on just 1 server, a LOT of servers/datasources using the "Host MIB - Hard Drive Space" or "Host MIB - CPU Utilization" templates won't get updated anymore.
(always the same servers/datasources)
Restoring a database backup corrects this problem. Don't know why this happens.

Can't configure a device and have it show under manage tab

Post by laamidd »

Hi all,

I've read this thread and I have the poller working, I have uptimes for my devices and I've edited the include statements in the right files to reflect global.php.

I choose switch for the OS, I select a site, force ping with ICMP, choose the TCP port switch template and choose save. When I go back into the device these settings are all gone. When I go to the manage tab, the device never shows up. My poller time changes and the logs show it working properly.

My tables are all ok when I check them from the misc. settings debug link.

I get this error message in cacti log when I try to configure a device:
02/28/2008 02:51:11 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] ERROR: SQL Cell Failed!, Error:'1064', SQL:"SELECT count(id) FROM data_local where data_template_id = AND snmp_index = 23 AND host_id = 2"

When I run this via phpmyadmin:
"SELECT count(id) FROM data_local where data_template_id = AND snmp_index = 23 AND host_id = 2"

I get this error message:
1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '"SELECT count(id) FROM data_local where data_template_id = AND snmp_index = 23 A' at line 1

I looked in the DB, in the data_local table and there is no host_id 2 with an snmp_index of 23.

I'm running cacti 8.7a, on W2K3 SP2 server, Mysql 5.0, php5.25, and the manage poller.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bob
