Data sources are required unless you are using cactid. There is a subtile difference between the two poller implementations that dates my involvement with the project.

Scratch that. Not working :(
Its failing to ping the server and so not creating the RRD files. I don't want to use the proxy method because there are three servers (possibly 5) I want to watch with this, so it could get incredibly messy otherwise. It didn't seem to want to talk to itself anyway.
Is there a way around this?

adding a squid template to an already existing device
When I add the "client request rate" template to an existing device (host), I get the following error:
using cacti 0.8.6h and rrdtool 1.0.50
RHEL4
Code: Select all
ERROR: invalid rpn expression 'b,a,LT,0,b,a,-,IF'

Re: adding a squid template to an already existing device
Ok, I upgraded to rrdtool 1.2.12 (rrdtool-1.2.12-1.2.el4 rpm by dag wieers) but now I get this error:flok wrote:When I add the "client request rate" template to an existing device (host), I get the following error:using cacti 0.8.6h and rrdtool 1.0.50Code: Select all

Re: adding a squid template to an already existing device
This is a knows issue with rrdtool-1.0.x versus 1.2.x The later needs "more" escaping of colons compared to the former. To cope with that, please switch the cacti Settings for rrdtool utility version to rrdtool-1.2.xflok wrote:flok wrote:...Ok, I upgraded to rrdtool 1.2.12 (rrdtool-1.2.12-1.2.el4 rpm by dag wieers) but now I get this error:Code: Select all

Re: adding a squid template to an already existing device
Unfortunately I had to switch back to 1.0 as with 1.2 (and yes, I did tell cacti to use rrdtool 1;2 syntax in the settings menu) I didn't get any graphs anymore.lvm wrote:flok wrote:This is a knows issue with rrdtool-1.0.x versus 1.2.x The later needs "more" escaping of colons compared to the former. Oh, sorry, you're quite right. I've missed something from your previous posting. It was so obvious! The graph statement does not contain any data source! This would be a line with a DEF= statement on it. And the AREA/LINEx statements would contain a reference to those DEFs (or to CDEFs which in turn would reference the DEFs). Did you got any errors while importing the templates? They seem to be broken ...
