Data sources are required unless you are using cactid. There is a subtile difference between the two poller implementations that dates my involvement with the project.

Oh well, it seems to work now. Turns out the XML files weren't in the snmp_queries directory for some reason.

Scratch that. Not working :(:(

Its failing to ping the server and so not creating the RRD files. I don't want to use the proxy method because there are three servers (possibly 5) I want to watch with this, so it could get incredibly messy otherwise. It didn't seem to want to talk to itself anyway.

Is there a way around this?

David,

Please e-mail me a full writeup on what your problem is and what you would like to do. I might be able to help.

I'm trying to import the 0.1 templates into my 0.8.6g installation and I get the following error:

Code: Select all

Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/cacti-0.8.6g/lib/import.php on line 44

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /usr/local/apache/htdocs/cacti-0.8.6g/lib/import.php:44) in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/cacti-0.8.6g/templates_import.php on line 67
Is there a later export I can use?

adding a squid template to an already existing device

When I add the "client request rate" template to an existing device (host), I get the following error:

Code: Select all

ERROR: invalid rpn expression 'b,a,LT,0,b,a,-,IF'
using cacti 0.8.6h and rrdtool 1.0.50
RHEL4

Ok, I upgraded to rrdtool 1.2.12 (rrdtool-1.2.12-1.2.el4 rpm by dag wieers) but now I get this error:

the command it tries to execute is:

This is a knows issue with rrdtool-1.0.x versus 1.2.x The later needs "more" escaping of colons compared to the former. To cope with that, please switch the cacti Settings for rrdtool utility version to rrdtool-1.2.x

Unfortunately I had to switch back to 1.0 as with 1.2 (and yes, I did tell cacti to use rrdtool 1;2 syntax in the settings menu) I didn't get any graphs anymore.

Oh, sorry, you're quite right. I've missed something from your previous posting. It was so obvious! The graph statement does not contain any data source! This would be a line with a DEF= statement on it. And the AREA/LINEx statements would contain a reference to those DEFs (or to CDEFs which in turn would reference the DEFs). Did you got any errors while importing the templates? They seem to be broken ...
