I tried to install cacti on window XP, but not successful finally (cannot create rrd files and graph). I found the cacti Beta windows installer, so I uninstalled the programs and deleted the related files that I installed before, and try to install the cacti Beta windows installer. However, after finished installation, I found that my IIS was not worked normally, I cannot access to http://localhost/. But before installation, all were ok. I have followed and configure all the steps that as "Cacti Post-Install" said. I have reboot my machine. But still can't work. My IIS is running, but I cannot access to my webserver. What's the problems??
OS: Windows XP professional
Webserver: IIS 5.1
OS: Windows XP professional
Webserver: IIS 5.1
After I followed the steps as stated at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321013/en-us (from your previous post)
The problems are solved~~
Thanks!!!!

I used windows full installer and now I have few question.
I have to use http://localhost/cacti/ when I want to setup cacti. Is it normal or did I mess something?
Btw, What is the username/password to http://localhost? Any idea?. I tried admin/admin and all those cactiusr/cactipsw combinations.
What this mean?

You obviously didn't read the instructions given in the installer. On it's final installation page AND inside the post-installation guide (you followed that, right?), are the passwords for cacti/mysql.
Ignore that scheduled task error once. if it keeps occurring then you might have problems.

Maybe I just said it badly so you didn't get it but that's ok. My fault.
Where to should I go when I log in from the localhost? Just thinkin there's something left from previous installations which didn't work...
I started my windows again some time ago but scheduled task says that cacti task isn't started at all... Log complaints about error 0x8004130f.Ignore that scheduled task error once. if it keeps occurring then you might have problems.
In the cacti I turned debug mode on and it gives a lots of warnings.

Looks like NTFS security wasn't properly applied. Did you have any antivirus/malware/popup crap enabled when you ran the installer?
Error 0x8004130f: No account information could be found in the Task Scheduler security database for the task indicated. You've got bigger issues with your windows install. Write down the details of the cacti scheduled task. Delete it, then recreate it.
As for the fgets errors, etc, read my windows install guide, paying close attention to the various files/folders which needs permissions applied to them.
You should logon to http://localhost/cacti/index.phprikalaj wrote:Where to should I go when I log in from the localhost?

I finally got scheduled task working, but I still have problems. I checked again those permissions but it didn't help. Installed this packet again and now turned virus prog off. No help.
Heres poller log. Looks good to me. Is it?
I already mentioned about these errors below but I'm still stuck. I don't know where's the problem. I found a topic about this same problem but it was solved by installing whole windows again.

What anti-virus program do you have?
As for the fget/popen errors. manually grant the IUSR and IIS_WPG accounts read/execute rights to the entire /wwwroot/cacti/ folder and c:\rrdtool\. Also apply it to \windows\system32\cmd.exe.

I didn't grant the IUSR account read&execute rights to cmd.exe (That's the only place where it's possible to grant rights for IUSR. Can't find it anywhere else. Also IIS_WPG is missing.)
Thanks for the help.
BTW.
Is there a easy way to stop cacti so it will be easy to turn on again?
Obviously your antivirus interfered with the installer performing it's various tasks. This is why the security, etc was not applied properly.rikalaj wrote:It's working now.

Looks like I managed to patch cacti to the newest version but there's some problems installing plugin architecture. I used cygwin and didn't give information about installation. No errors or anything else. I tried to install few plugins but I don't see any difference...
Is it possible to do normal plugin installation to this setup?

Yes, it's no different from what you download and manually install the various pieces.rikalaj wrote:Is it possible to do normal plugin installation to this setup?
Post the details of your problem in the plugin forum. I suspect a misconfiguration of the plugin arch.
