For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

I don't want to confuse anyone...but after using snmp.php from 0.8.6.c again, I got the same results as with snmp.php from 0.8.6d (status/type...).
After hitting the "green button" a few times and changing the snmp.php version 2 or 3 times, using an other browser, I now get the right results again with 0.8.6c snmp.php ! This is something I don't understand. Is there some informaiton that gets cached?
Nice weekend!

Hitting the refresh button rebuilds the Cache. However, Cactid/cmd.php will recache based upon your recache method as well. If it is set to "always verify", it will recache every time.

I tried this for 3 more devices now. I hit the green button on the "New Graphs" page -> no change. I tried this serveral times. Then I hit the green button on the "Devices" -page, after that I followed the "Create Graphs for this Host" link and the status/type/hw info reappeared!
Ok, going back to "Device" -> Verbose Query, status/type/hw info is missing again! "Create Graphs for this Host" only shows the numeric values an no hw address
I tried this 4 or 5 times, sometimes it worked, sometimes not. I've no idea what this might be. I increased the snmp timeout too, no change.

Perform the following command and e-mail to me:
mysqldump -u root -p cacti > cacti.dump
I will not be able to respond until later this evening. It is 9:07am now.
Thanks,

First, let me state that I am new to Cacti (and not the best programmer in the world either)... so maybe I am all wrong....
I believe am having the same prob too. I get a "1" or "2" (not up or down) for the ifOperStatus and nothing (well, just a '' for the value) for the ifHwAddr, but all the other values (ifSpeed, ifType, etc), have valid info.
I modified the snmp.php file and commented out most of the format_snmp_string function. I was able to get something from the ifHwAddr then:
+ Executing SNMP walk for data @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.6'
+ Found item [ifHwAddr=''] index: 1 [from value]
+ Found item [ifHwAddr='XUýk'] index: 2 [from value]
+ Found item [ifHwAddr='XUýl'] index: 3 [from value]
+ Found item [ifHwAddr='XUýl'] index: 4 [from value]
+ Found item [ifHwAddr='XUýl'] index: 5 [from value]
+ Found item [ifHwAddr='XUýl'] index: 6 [from value]
+ Found item [ifHwAddr='XUýl'] index: 7 [from value]
+ Found item [ifHwAddr='XUýl'] index: 8 [from value]
+ Found item [ifHwAddr='XUým'] index: 9 [from value]
+ Found item [ifHwAddr='XUýl'] index: 10 [from value]
+ Found item [ifHwAddr='XUýl'] index: 11 [from value]
+ Found item [ifHwAddr='XUýl'] index: 12 [from value]
If you need any more info, let me know.
This was on a brand new install of Cacti on Wind2000 SP4, IIS5
php v5.0.4
cacti 0.8.6d
thanks,
Mike

I would not suggest commenting most of that code out. It will cause you more issues than you know.
Second, what device are you querying that gives you those results?
Can you do an snmpwalk of the same OID from the command line?

It was more an exercise in trying to see if I could get anything out of the interface. I noticed that there were instances where the string was getting parsed and I just wanted to see what the "raw" string looked like. I have since put the code back in....

Sorry for the disjoined questions....
Help me to understand you installation...
What version of the following:
NET-SNMP
PHP
Also, are you using the PHP SNMP module? You can check for snmp.so in the php.ini file. If you installation of PHP uses module directories, you will have to look for that file in the module load directory, which is defined in you php.ini.

net-snmp is v5.2.1
php is version 5.0.4
I am pretty sure I am using the php_snmp.dll module (see below). I don't know a ton about PHP, but I have been reading a lot of info from this forum...
php -m
[PHP Modules]
bcmath
calendar
com_dotnet
ctype
dom
ftp
iconv
libxml
mysql
odbc
pcre
session
SimpleXML
snmp
sockets
SPL
SQLite
standard
tokenizer
wddx
xml
zlib
[Zend Modules]
I am sure that the snmp is working, as I am currnetly playing around and (successfully) monitoring a Pix firewall and a windows xp machint's network interfaces...
