I can see that a report can be either public or private to a user, but I don't see how I (as admin) can 'give' a user a report of just their equipment. I can see that I can use the filter feature to make the relevant report, just not how to let them have it.
(looking even better with each version, by the way!)
Chrisgapske,
if I remember correctly ReportIt v0.5.1 is not older than 7 days.
Maybe you will get it as a Christmas present , but it depends on the time Reinhard and me will have to write it beside our jobs.
browniebraun wrote:The ownership works in the same way as in 0.4.x, only the filter settings are new.
That's odd, I didn't notice it at all before

So, you see that the concept of ReportIt allows for users which are able to create their own report configurations without an admin. Therefore they should have all permissions excepting the "Power User Configuration" that means "Owner Configuration + View". Till now it wasn't planned to change the owner of a report configuration, so that you (as an admin) can prepare one for them. If you want it I can put on the wishlist for v0.6.0.
Yes please I think it would be very useful. I can imagine that several of my users would like to have reports, but not want to create them themselves, and those users that are customers, I would not want to give enough power to do it.
The perfect situation for me would be that it only ever lets them see data that they would be able to see graphs for, but I think that's pretty tricky to figure out.

Howie, you have convinced me! It's definitely on the agenda for v0.6.0.

This would be great I can let groups in one area see reports from another.

Tricky, tricky ... but I'll think about it.

Have you tested this with 0.8.7 ? Beta any ?
I was just remembering a post you commented about in another post of mine about vr 0.6.0 and did not notice the BIG title of this thread.
Hi!
Latest tests have been made with 0.8.6.k Beta 2 before it has been published that k will not come.
Maybe some of the other ReportIt users has tested it with one of the newest betas. But I can't image that the important interfaces (for ReportIt) will differ so much between "k" and 0.8.7. Hopefully.
It seems to be working so far. I have not ran into anything troubling. Other than documentation for a laman. So far it graphs just like I ask it. Were the pie charts you showed in excel or did the program make a pie chart/graph ?

"Documentation?"
Ohje, they are back again - the three problems of every developer:
Time, human resources and documentation.
No, it wasn't Excel!
At first you've to enable "Graphs" under settings-> reports. Back to a report view you'll see a graph icon at the head of every column. Click on it to change to the graph view.
It requires PHP compiled with GD and Freetype support, so you will get an error message if they are missing. (See http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=23608)
No, but it's planned for v0.6.0 to redisign it - that means it will also get a handful of options including the feature you're asking for. At the moment it's faultily, but I didn't want to delay the publishment of mayor release 0.5.
What would be a good idea for one of your releases is to include some sample report templates which would serve a range of purposes like what cacti does. Then people would get a better idea on how to do it themselves and could just duplicate them.
Take a look at http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?p=96475&highlight=#96475 for example.
Most guys forget that normally the interface counters return Bytes not Bits. In this case your calculation formula should contain the multiplier 8. e.g. : f_max*8
.. and you've also to select the correct SI-prefixes for rounding the results. (Normally Base 1000).
It think you should sleep now.
Okay, this was only a joke. You're comparing the wrong graphs / results.
Go to your report view and click on the interface name to see the graph for the reporting period you've configured.
