I have the plugin architecture for 0.8.6g. I have asked for the 0.8.6h beta version. I dont want to break the h php files by putting in the wrong version <g>.
I kind of jumped right into this plugin, so I'm probably screwing everything up, but when I go to create a device I simply get "Error: Save Failed" - not much else. Ideas?
Well, I was going to go look at the cacti log file but apparently I don't have one of those either...hmmm....
Have the plugin architecture install created /mactrack/ directory and copied the 3 files that come with the zip (only mactrack stuff I can find to download) and edited config file but no tab nothing. Also tried copying to /lib/mactrack directory but still nothing.
Where is the complete download for this addon? it looks really interesting and I would love to try it but can't enable it. Please can someone advise.
What config file did you edit? You have to edit the config.php file for cacti itself. I should also note that I have more than three files in my cacti/plugins/mac_tack directory so perhaps you haven't gotten all of the package yet? There is a specific download for the plugin architecture - and then I think one or two file updates in later posts.
I have the interface working - as best I can tell - I just can't do anything from that tab or inside the console, through Mac-Track's additional menu items. It won't allow me to add devices...but I'm looking forward to those updates this week!

From your description, I believe you downloaded TheWitness's updated lib files, instead of the actual plugin. Try using this link instead.
This already includes the updated files. Also, if you don't want to update to Cacti v0.8.6h, then it will work for the most part on v0.8.6g, device errors just won't show up in red. The plugin architecture download now includes the patch and files for v0.8.6h.

I'm not getting anything from that link (it downloads a small file, but I can't open it)?
Also, is that your updated plugin or just the raw add-on? If the add-on, is there an updated plugin download?
The file unzips fine for me using both WinRAR and WinZip, you can try getting the zip version to see if it works better for you. Also, what Browser / OS are you using? Maybe its a problem with my download scripts, but who knows.
This is the latest updated version of the plugin with the minor fixes I have added and it should work in both PHP4 and PHP5 (had minor issue before).

I'm showing the file as 45.2k - but getting the same response trying to open it via gui, "file does not exist".
Obviously I'm a newbie on linux, but I haven't run into this problem before. So does this mean it is the plugin?
More than likely a problem with my script (all compressed files are generated on the fly). I'll see about debugging it some more tonight from my linux box.
Anyways, attached is the plugin, compressed via Winzip. If you need a GZ file, I can supply that also.
Great idea to integrate this functionality into cacti, if i can help in anyway with
support for HP Procurve equipment let me know.
I have access to the following switch series 5300,4100,2800,2600,2500. Though i belive they use quite the same mibs, atleast i used the same mibs on all of them with some Perl scripting.

Must have been the problem - winzip file worked fine.

I'm still having the same issue, "Error:Save Failed". Is this because I'm running g version? Other ideas? Will look at cacti.log - though I've been have a few difficulties there as well, so who knows. Can't wait for the next release.

The "Error:Save Failed" is actually an unresolved error at this point (this is still in beta). Also, it says "Saved Failed" but as far as I can see. The Witness will be working on this during the week, maybe I will help out and find the problem with this, so he can work on the more important aspects.

So is it supposed to be creating the device, and the error is just a bug? On my system, it doesn't appear to be creating anything (and I get the same thing when trying to create a site).
At any rate, I'm looking forward to this working - it will help my team out a LOT!!
