Thanks for your replies.

First, I clicked several times on the green circle but did not see any changes. What is this suppose to do? Otherwise what are the options in the dropdown menu (Uptime goes backward, etc...) for?

I managed to get rid of nearly all the warnings ( graphs not well configured) but I still have problems with graphs displaying the CPU Usage of my Nortel devices. I will have to look at it deeper.

Otherwise I get graphs using the poller.php, but I have the feeling that when using the poller.php there is a problem with the configuration of the poller.
Indeed, the windows are staying open for nearly a minute like there was a timeout or something like that... And it's freezing my computer which is pretty powerful so it's pretty annoying :/

I did everything that is written on your webpage, but can't get cactid to work. How come?

I will enable cactid and put the log to get an understanding of what is happening.

Thanks for your help,

Chris.

1) the green circle refreshes the indexes. The drop down options are how cacti deals with reindexing the OIDs. Not exactly sure how the 'uptime goes backwards' one works, but the others are self explanatory.

2) If you dont want to see the windows popping open, then run the cacti task under a different user, than the one you're logging on with. As for it taking a long time, that is normal depending on how many hosts you are polling... and I recall you have a decent amount.

3) To get cactid working, first manually run it from the command line and see what the error(s) are. Once it works in there, then enable it in cacti.

1) Ok, but apparently it's changing nothing for my files. Should we click on this green circle from time to time to reindex all our files?

2) Ok thanks.

3) Apparently I was not able to use Cactid due to my IP address. I thought that I could use my IP address 10.33.X.X but I had to use 127.0.0.1 to have it work.
Otherwise I got the following error message from the command line:

C:\cactid>cactid
CACTID: Using cactid config file [cactid.conf]
CACTID: MYSQL: Connection Failed: #HY000Host 'XXXX' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

The graphs are displaying data, so it seems to be working fine :o)

But I included the log file in case something needs to be fixed.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Chris

The error message you're getting sounds clear enough to me. The MySQL server doesn't allow your cacti user to connect. You need to check that out...it would be easier to do that with MySQL admin or phpmyadmin.

Hi, Sorry I just updated my last post. I had a phone call and forgot to save the edition.

As you can see it's working now, but I just wanted to be sure that the configuration is ok.
I posted a log from Cacti when running cactid automatically and another one in this post when running cactid manually.

Thanks for your help,

Chris

1) To fix the MIB errors, make sure you point your MIBSDIR variable where the MIB files truly live for PHP.

2) Besides the few warnings for invalid OID, everything looks fine. If you're getting updated rrd files and graphs work, you're all set!

Where can I check that out?

Ok well, I will try to solve this problem with the Nortel CPU Usage (it's the invalid OID), because using a MIB Browser I can get the proper value of the CPU Usage using the OID, but not in Cacti :/

Thanks for your help,

Chris

_Chris_,

Would like to work with you on resolving bad OID issue. I believe others are having that issue, but I have not found anyone willing to work online with me "ssh"/"html"/etc...

Thanks TheWitness,

It would have been with pleasure, but first I can't let you get information on the devices I am polling and then, I don't think you could connect yourself to my computer in SSH because of the security measures.

Thanks anyway,

Chris.
