Alpha/Beta?

TheWitness,

I can offer up Extreme Networks OID walks and testing etc. if you want.

Pluggin looks great, nice work.

I wrote my own version of this as a stand alone web interface to a DB populated by perl... I am taking in around 12,000 hosts on a segment of my network in about 20 or so minutes, running ever 30 minutes to keep track of all the evil users out there... DB archives etc. w/ search... so I can easily see how much work you have put in to this project to get it this far.

Good work indeed.

TheWitness

When can we expect to see this made available, if only as a "beta" version?

Best,

I'm getting closer. There are a few database changes that I need to make for stabilities sake.

Excellent plugin! I can provide information on 3Com 4400, 3870, 4870 and 7700, and soon, 5500 and probably office connect.

Good. Don't get too excited yet. There is a lot of work to do relative to completion and my full time job takes precedent. I can release early, but I have not incorporated the "Import CSV" button to import devices (I used phpMyAdmin for my initial 1600 devices) and it may have issues with various device types. Plus, there is no doco at this time.

Looks awesome.

Is there any way to create an IP address > hostname mapping via reverse dns?

Also -- Can you create a "diff" script that will e-mail you about new devices? moved devices? deleted devices? Perhaps also distinguishing before never before seen devices?

The reverse lookup thing could work, just haven't given it much thought due to high overhead in cases where a customer either does not register their hosts or has a poorly implemented DNS architecture.

The diff script thoughts can be quite problematic in cases where DHCP is in user or CAM/BRIDGE tables expire prior to your ARP timeouts and forced host re-registration with the routers arp table. Maybe in a later release though.

Thanks -- I'd really appreciate the reverse dns, it should be easy enough. You could use netbios too I suppose.

The diff I was reffering too is currently done here by simply taking yesterdays output and comparing it with todays... it doesn't care what the switch thinks. The two days .txt output files listing ip addressess and mac addrsesses are simply run through diff for a diff output. This could be done by storing the data in a table. Keep in mind that there is no DHCP here -- it's a datacenter. This is indeed more of a project though.

Just courious -- what are we looking at for the first public beta? A month or two?

Thanks!
