If I run poller.php from a command prompt, I see:

c:\>c:\php\php.exe c:\program files\openxtra\mrtg\wwwroot\cacti\poller.php
Status: 404
Content-type: text/html

Long file names are not supported at this time. Change it's directory and you will be fine.

Okay. After moving my entire web folder (mrtg/cacti/other content) to c:\htdocs and repointing everything, the cacti/log/cacti.log set to debug now shows:

11/13/2004 08:45:12 PM - WEBLOG: Poller[0] CACTI2RRD: c:\rrdtool\rrdtool.exe graph - --imgformat=PNG --start=1100321111 --end=1100407511 --title="Localhost - Traffic" --rigid --base=1000 --height=120 --width=500 --alt-autoscale-max --lower-limit=0 COMMENT:"From 2004/11/12 20:45:11 To 2004/11/13 20:45:11\c" COMMENT:"\n" --vertical-label="bits per second" CDEF:cdefa=a,8,* CDEF:cdefe=a,8,* AREA:cdefa#00CF00:"Inbound" GPRINT:cdefa:LAST:" Current\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefa:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefa:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s\n" LINE1:cdefe#002A97:"Outbound" GPRINT:cdefe:LAST:"Current\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefe:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefe:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s"

I'm still not seeing any graphs showing up at this time.

Another update, cacti.log shows:

I notice the Devices page stating there's an SNMP error in red letters. The local machine is currently set to 127.0.0.1.

Current Data Template Selectin is set to Interface - Traffic, with Host set to Localhost(ircftp) which is the name of the machine.

Under Devices, SNMP community string is public and is working with MRTG just fine so it's correct. SNMP version is set to Version 1, port is 161.

Associated Data Queries is set to SNMP - Interface Statistics. Associated Graph Templates is set to Interface - Traffic (bits/sec)

In devices, change to the actual IP address. When the SNMP Error goes away, you should be all set.

Set Hostname to 192.168.0.4, the IP on the interface, but still get the snmp error showing up. Ideas?

Under Cacti Settings -> Paths, both snmpwalk and snmpget binary paths are set to c:\net-snmp\bin which is where both files reside.

After double-checking everything against the Windows install instructions, I realized that I had path statements to snmpwalk and snmpget but didn't add snmpwalk.exe/get.exe at the end. So...with that resolved, I get this under the Devices -> device window:

IRCFTP (192.168.0.4)
SNMP Information
System: Hardware: x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 3 AT/AT COMPATIBLE - Software: Windows 2000 Version 5.1 (Build 2600 Uniprocessor Free)
Uptime: 3690789
Hostname: IRCFTP

Looking better, no snmp error this time. The /rra directory still has the .placeholder file in there with nothing else. The log file shows:

11/14/2004 11:20:30 AM - WEBLOG: Poller[0] CACTI2RRD: c:\rrdtool\rrdtool.exe graph - --imgformat=PNG --start=1100373629 --end=1100460029 --title="IRCFTP - Traffic" --rigid --base=1000 --height=120 --width=500 --alt-autoscale-max --lower-limit=0 COMMENT:"From 2004/11/13 11:20:29 To 2004/11/14 11:20:29\c" COMMENT:"\n" --vertical-label="bits per second" CDEF:cdefa=a,8,* CDEF:cdefe=a,8,* AREA:cdefa#00CF00:"Inbound" GPRINT:cdefa:LAST:" Current\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefa:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefa:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s\n" LINE1:cdefe#002A97:"Outbound" GPRINT:cdefe:LAST:"Current\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefe:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefe:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s"

11/14/2004 11:02:54 AM - WEBLOG: Poller[0] CACTI2RRD: c:\rrdtool\rrdtool.exe graph - --imgformat=PNG --start=1100372573 --end=1100458973 --title="IRCFTP - Traffic" --rigid --base=1000 --height=120 --width=500 --alt-autoscale-max --lower-limit=0 COMMENT:"From 2004/11/13 11:02:53 To 2004/11/14 11:02:53\c" COMMENT:"\n" --vertical-label="bits per second" CDEF:cdefa=a,8,* CDEF:cdefe=a,8,* AREA:cdefa#00CF00:"Inbound" GPRINT:cdefa:LAST:" Current\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefa:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefa:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s\n" LINE1:cdefe#002A97:"Outbound" GPRINT:cdefe:LAST:"Current\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefe:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefe:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s"

The ircftp account has full permissions to the /rra and /log directories. When I run poller.php from a command prompt, I'm still getting:

C:>C:\php\php.exe C:\cacti\poller.php
Status: 404
Content-type: text/html

No input file specified.

You must be using the CGI verion of PHP. Is this correct?

Not sure. A couple of the statements in my httpd.conf file are:

LoadModule php4_module c:/php/sapi/php4apache2.dll
ScriptAlias /php/ "c:/php/"

Does that make it a CGI setup for php? I think it is. ( I set up the box a few weeks back and don't recall all the details at this point)

Both the Poller and SNMP cache logs are empty as well. Cacti log has stuff in it.

You are running fast-cgi. This is good for the web page, but for the scripting (poller) you need to utilitze the cli version of PHP. Look for an executable like "php-cli" and use it for the scheduled task and for the PHP Path in "Settings->Path". K
