Larry,

I have downloaded and compiled. I do not get the "U" errors anymore but I am getting errors when trying to run it on my DL580 multi processor box. I get a script error and a "cannot connect" message. I change back to cmd and it works without error. This di dnot happen before I upgraded to a faster machine with multi processors.

Regards,

Willie

Changed my SNMP settings, like you suggested, but still have the errors above.
SNMP Timeout = 3000
SNMP Retries = 5

Will do a DEBUG logging, and will try to post that one later.

Hello Willie,

Is it possible to post or email your compiled cactid.exe, please? Maybe there is still something wrong with my compilation procedure.

Thanks,

I have been seeing these errors in my Cacti log for awhile now 0.8.5 and 0.8.6b.

10/14/2004 06:38:39 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[9] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result:

I suspect that they are caused by by snmp queries to illegal OID's such as using the cisco router template fro a cisco pix firewall (the cpu ultilization OID is incorrect) When I remove the graph and data source the error disappears. I would like to be able to confim this but I have not been able to find out which host is being referred to by Host[9]. Is there someway to determine the device and/or data source from Host[9]?

P.S. when i run cmd.php from the command prompt I see the same error messages as in the log but when I run poller.php from the the command line I don't see any errors on screen but they are entered into the log.

Eddie,

You can run the following command:

c:\mysql\bin\mysql --user=root --password cacti
select * from hosts where id = '9';
go;
exit;

Larry

p.s. We are planning on a rewrite of the logging for 0.8.7. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks TheWitness for sending me the latest cactid.exe.

I have lately more and more the problem that CACTID can't connect to the MYSQL server. This is the error I get :
10/29/2004 04:34:57 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] Maximum runtime of 296 seconds exceeded. Exiting.
10/29/2004 04:31:16 PM - PHPSVR: Poller[0] ERROR: Input Expected, Script Server Terminating
10/29/2004 04:31:15 PM - CACTID: Poller[0] MYSQL: Connection Failed: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (112)

I found on the forum the following posts that mention the same problem :
- http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=3759
- http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=3722

I have upgraded my MySQL server to the latest version mysql-4.1.7-win. All should eb configured correctly, as this is done by MySQL itself.

At the moment I see these errors in my log, I see on the server that 3 Cacti processes are still active: 1x php-win.exe; 1x rrdtool.exe; 1x cmd.exe.

I am working with a person from Alabama on this issue as we speak. I might have a fix offered up before the weekend is out. It all depends on my schedule.

tapufd,

Edit lib/database.php and change the following line as follows:

if ($cnn_id->Connect($host,$user,$pass,$db_name)) {

to

if ($cnn_id->PConnect($host,$user,$pass,$db_name)) {

Let me know if it cleans up the errors.

Hi

Changed the Connect to PConnect but still the same problem (using the latest cactid.exe that TheWitness sent me) :
10/30/2004 12:14:57 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] Maximum runtime of 296 seconds exceeded. Exiting.
10/30/2004 12:11:22 PM - PHPSVR: Poller[0] ERROR: Input Expected, Script Server Terminating
10/30/2004 12:11:21 PM - CACTID: Poller[0] MYSQL: Connection Failed: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (112)

If I can help in this problem (testing, ...) please let me know.

Is this error occuring 100% of the time? Try the actual IP Address of the host instead of '127.0.0.1' also, does the ID have access via the IP Address? Do you know how to set MySQL permissions? A good tool to use is MySQL Administrator.

Hi TheWitness & Willie,

I tried the new version, but I'm still having the same problem (see attachment). Don't know of Willie is experiencing the same thing?

PS : to create the new cactid.exe, I use the following procedure :
- I extract the file cacti-cactid-0.8.6b.tar.gz to 'cacti-cactid-0.8.6b'
- I extract the file cactid_unix.zip to the previous folder 'cacti-cactid-0.8.6b' and overwrite the existing files
- do : ./configure
- do : make
Is this the correct procedure the implement the new changes to cactid?

Tap,

The process you are using is correct. As we had discussed yesterday, could you turn up the threads with this build at 1 concurrent process and let me know if the messages go away. Willie also had a fix that I am going to implement. I will submit those changes to you today. (Between hanging shoe molding and shopping)

Thanks,

Larry
