Both this request and your former one are doable, IMHO. But both are new. Post your reuqest to the feature request forum, please. But do not assume that they will be implemented unless other users have a demand for it.
At least, in both cases a PLUGIN solution may solve your problem without waiting for a "general product solution"

Inventory plugin
Hi Reinhard, gandalf wrote:Currently, I'm creating an INVENTORY plugin, purely based on SNMP. It will fetch hrSoftware stuff and some data from the basic SYSTEM (sysLocation, sysContact and stuff). But I fear you will want to get data beyond SNMP capabilities ...
Reinhard
do you have any news on the Inventory plugin?
I am very keen on testing it, as this could become very handy.
Are we able to specify which OID info is harvested?
In my case I could use location and the physical mac addreses of a device, beside Name, IP, Make etc.
Best Regards

Until now, I was focussing on
- software assets, installed software and stuff (HOST table)
- hardware ressources as far as available from the HOST table
This bit works but may require some tuning. But nevertheless, the results seemed to weak for publishing, IMHO.
Please explain in more detail, what you would like to see in this plugin.

Well,
I am looking for a tool that can make a report from some more or less static information from the known devices.
I guess the most information is somewhere in the system.
In my case I have a system managing wireless APs and the admins have filled in the location field of the APs but unfortunately the name of the system is not always reflecting the location.
Also the mac adresses could be useful to see at a glance as this is something they use to locate the coverage in another system.
They have the info in an excel sheet but it is not always up to date.
Another handy information that could be manually supplied could be a service contract no., but that would be secondary.
Thanks for listening.

I would love to see this plugin. All that I need (currently) is this simple information for an inventory.gandalf wrote: - software assets, installed software and stuff (HOST table)
