Hey thanks for the reply
yeah my bad i only tryed to change the poller cycle so it would cycle faster i guess thats not the case here. But i am still having problems cycling my maps
" It is not the poller cycle you need to change. It is
Console->Settings->Misc->Map Rendering Interval "
I do not have this Map rendering option interval please see attched picture
I tried thumbnail view but thats not it
Just to be clear I want to be able to display my four maps individually on one screen and then cycle each picture after i dont know 30 seconds or whatever time not important. I dont know maybe i have a later version of cacti ??
thanks

Sorry - it's Refresh Time in your picture. I was looking at my dev version. I guess it's been renamed in 0.9nedo wrote:" It is not the poller cycle you need to change. It is

OK. You can either cycle all the maps fullscreen, or show them all at once with no cycling (i.e. the standard thumbnail view). You can't have a cycle with all four + one at a time.nedo wrote: Just to be clear I want to be able to display my four maps individually on one screen and then cycle each picture after i dont know 30 seconds or whatever time not important. Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.

ok so your saying its not possible to cycle one picture at a time for all 4 maps ??
oh man .. oh well i thought thats why the cycling was there, i hit it but displays all 4 maps on weathemap tab ..damn i even changed the view thumbnail to standard, i really needed this..oh well
thanks for your replys

Yes! You can do that!nedo wrote:ok so your saying its not possible to cycle one picture at a time for all 4 maps ??
[map1]->[map2]->[map3]->[map4]->[map1]
You said you wanted to have another step showing all 4 at the same time, didn't you? That isn't possible...
That is why cycling is therenedo wrote:oh man .. oh well i thought thats why the cycling was there, i hit it but displays all 4 maps on weathemap tab ..damn i even changed the view thumbnail to standard, i really needed this..oh well
Hmmm. I just tried it, and it doesn't work for me, either, in IE7, but it does work in FireFox.
It definitely did work when 0.82 came out...
What browser do you use?[/list]

One picture at a time thats what i meant i am confusing myself and you sorry...
cycle=map1+map2+map3+map4
Map1 appears on the screen then disapears then map2 appears then disapears then map3 appears and so on.... and then starts all over again
"It definitely did work when 0.82 came out..."
If you say so i have not tryed it in firefox yet but why should it matter what browser i use: I use IE 6.0 for Cacti
I have Nagios as well i know different browser conflicts with IE anf firefox! But have not heared it on Cacti
By the way IE 7 sucks it much slower and unreliable then 6
thanks
Is weathermap 0.9 any better or more improved then 0.82?
Is is possible to migrate info from old to new version of weathermap?

It uses Javascript to reload the images at the correct times.nedo wrote:If you say so i have not tryed it in firefox yet but why should it matter what browser i use: I use IE 6.0 for Cacti
Not Cacti, just Weathermapnedo wrote: I have Nagios as well i know different browser conflicts with IE anf firefox! But have not heared it on Cacti
I see the same problem with IE6 here, but no-one else has ever mentioned it. Wierd. I'll check into this.
Yes. Lots of new features in the last year. It depends on what you want to do, but there are a lot of changes.nedo wrote: Is weathermap 0.9 any better or more improved then 0.82?
Yes you can. There is no migration - it is compatible.nedo wrote: Is is possible to migrate info from old to new version of weathermap?

thanks that did the trick man you got it
i guess who ever wrote it didnt consider to include IE to be able cycle the maps ....
Our company is video transmission we are monitoring a lot of bandwidth
i find it difficult to understand why cacti cannot graph VLANS or Cogent Circuits only pohisical ports such as ethernet ... but thats ok
Does this new weathermap offer a solution for this ?
Do you have a link i can go to cant find it on google the new weathermap plugin?
thanks agian

That was me. I did test with IE6. That's why I don't know what has happened since then.nedo wrote:i guess who ever wrote it didnt consider to include IE to be able cycle the maps ....
I graph VLANs on my Cisco 3750G switches and 7206VXR routers with no problems with Cacti. Your problem is more likely that the devices you use don't give SNMP counters for individual VLANs. It's not Cacti's fault.nedo wrote: Our company is video transmission we are monitoring a lot of bandwidth

No. You should have a search for your network device's name in the Scripts and Templates forum, to see if someone else has already made a template for it.nedo wrote: Does this new weathermap offer a solution for this ?
It's not ready for release yet (another few weeks). It will be available atnedo wrote: Do you have a link i can go to cant find it on google the new weathermap plugin?

just one more question do you know how i can create 3 links between 2 rouers in the editor for the weathermap i have multiple circuits going from one router (ex: Fibernet,Globbal Crossing,Cogent) i know it can be done i have seen it on the php-weathermap sample .
PHP-editor
I tryed adding another link but its the same one cant bend it ? How can this be done?
Also you can only graph or view bandwidth on one link between two routers have you considered having the ability to view both sides of the link?
How come when you create the links in the editor on the weathermap in cacti it shows diffrent color and the percentage on both sides of the link is different shouldnt they be the same since it is one link?
oh and one small question when i graph a particular physical port it graphs and everything goes thru fine, just one minor thing some graphs show a 100% and some are graphed properly where only have halve of the graph is filled they both have identical bandwidth inbound and outbound?
I have tryed padding it to 100 worked temporary
I hope this is not alot
thanks

Not in the editor. You need to edit the config file in a text editor (notepad, vi etc) to make the change you need. The method to make the bends is in the FAQ section of the manual about halfway down - you use VIA lines to make the link bend:nedo wrote:just one more question do you know how i can create 3 links between 2 rouers in the editor for the weathermap i have multiple circuits going from one router (ex: Fibernet,Globbal Crossing,Cogent) i know it can be done i have seen it on the php-weathermap sample .

I don't really understand. The 'in' of one interface is the same as the 'out' of the other one... otherwise you have a strange network problemnedo wrote: Also you can only graph or view bandwidth on one link between two routers have you considered having the ability to view both sides of the link?
There are two arrows that meet in the middle. One from node A to node B ('out' or 'transmit') and one from node B to node A ('in' or 'receive'). You send data both ways, and those are the two arrows. Now I see why you asked the last part, I think.nedo wrote: How come when you create the links in the editor on the weathermap in cacti it shows diffrent color and the percentage on both sides of the link is different shouldnt they be the same since it is one link?
Not sure I understand, but I think you might need to set the BANDWIDTH for your links to the correct values, if you are talking about percentage labels on links in Weathermap.nedo wrote: oh and one small question when i graph a particular physical port it graphs and everything goes thru fine, just one minor thing some graphs show a 100% and some are graphed properly where only have halve of the graph is filled they both have identical bandwidth inbound and outbound?

Hey Howie i am only writing a reply to you since your the one that created Weathermap and prob. know wat i talking about.
Why is the graph bandwidth statistics diffrent from threshold bandwidth ?
For example on the graphs on cacti it shows 10M (in) and on the threshold tab it says 20M which is wrong . I was thinking since my bandwidth monitors are constantly changing it would make sense for it to jump up and down.
Is there a way to i can change the poller cycle so it would refresh more often for cacti threshold and graphs cause for some of my bandwidth even after 5 min its still shows same badnwidth statictsics
thanks
nedo

Sorry, I don't know much about THold. I only use it for a couple of mail server queues.nedo wrote:Hey Howie i am only writing a reply to you since your the one that created Weathermap and prob. know wat i talking about.

There is a special patch to change the poller cycle time, but it's not simple, and it breaks some plugins. I think THold is one of the plugins that breaks.nedo wrote: Is there a way to i can change the poller cycle so it would refresh more often for cacti threshold and graphs cause for some of my bandwidth even after 5 min its still shows same badnwidth statictsics
The best place for THold questions is the Threshold forum, or maybe http://cactiusers.org/ which is Jimmy's site (the THold author).

OK. I've fixed this cycle problem in the next release (0.9 - still not ready). The change is a one line change though, so if you would like to try it...Howie wrote:That was me. I did test with IE6. In weathermap-cacti-plugin.php, change line 361 (roughly) from
Code: Select all
if (possible_maps[i].getAttribute('class') == 'weathermapholder')
Code: Select all
if (possible_maps[i].className == 'weathermapholder')

Nice thanks man good job !!!
what do you do in freetime, write if statements when your bored ..lol thanks again works for IE6 too.
let me ask you one last thing i downloaded CactiEZ beta CD with all preinstalled packages how do i update a plugin for example threshold and weathermap 0.9 thats going to come out soon.
I dont want to mess it up by making a mistake our network monitoring is very crucial to the company?
Since the installation of CactiEZ beata version on my server it i dont have a compiler and i think in order to install update any plugins i need to have a C or C++ compiler.
And last is it possible to integrate my costome C code with Cacti as for instace a plugin?
I Keep asking you question sorry
is there a Cacti Book or online manual is my only resort to get info

Cacti is written by 4 or 5 guys in their spare time. Weathermap is written by me in my spare time. CactiEZ is made by Jimmy (one of the Cacti developers) in the spare time he doesn't use for all the other stuff.
Usually you can just drop in the replacement, but READ THE DOCS.nedo wrote: let me ask you one last thing i downloaded CactiEZ beta CD with all preinstalled packages how do i update a plugin for example threshold and weathermap 0.9 thats going to come out soon.

This is a CentOS issue.
I don't see why it's a "resort" - it's just the same words on a screen instead of paper.nedo wrote: And last is it possible to integrate my costome C code with Cacti as for instace a plugin?
