cactid mysql error on 64bit

Hi - I found this thread a little confusing. Was there ever a solid fix for this issue?

I am running on a AMD Opteron with RHEL ES 64 bit.

Cacti 0.8.6.j
Cactid 0.8.6i

I am getting the:

checking for mysql_init in -lmysqlclient... no
configure: error: MySQL libraries not found.

Sorry if this is answered in this thread - I am just looking for simplification.
