no, that was the problem. I simply had the wrong .rrd file. A little odd that 169 is mentioned in the url, but it really is using 172. I did the xml export of the 172 rrd and the values finally make sense!

169 was the number of the Graph Template, not the number of the RRD file. They are not supposed to be the same ...
