Ok, as said the plugin is only compatible with Cacti installed by source.

apt/yum installs of Cacti have a different implementation of the Cacti tree and hence the plugin will probably screw up these installs.

No, not yet. I've been busy with other projects right now ( big update for the nmidSmokeping plugin as well as customer stuff ).
