I love weathermap



I can click on any node to take me to the page with all the cacti graphs. I can hover over any node to see CPU usage and load. I can hover over the home and data volumes to see disk usage stats.

How do you do to display external wheater informations with picture+temp?

And how obtain "total KvA" from all your devices? Is sum of all data queries from all devices?

Picture will not change but it should be possible. The temperature is the value from a sensor of a chiller.

For the "total KVA" we use the sum function to calculate the values of all our devices.

Hi,
We find it quite a useful tool in our data centre, gives us a nice plan view, instant graphs when hovering over a temp, and quick URL links to our basestations.

We also use the background image as a basis for a CCTV map, this has CCTV icons at camera locations. When we hover over the icons a live feed appears. Very handy for our unmanned rooms on the otherside of the site

As well as the network maps just wondering if anyone was using weathermaps for any other types of maps???

I use it for temperature maps in our DCs. There are some samples back in this thread somewhere...

Fiber optic net with some rings, shows if FO links are having traffic, if not there is a problem in the FO and links goes red. Show nodes status too so you can see whos failing, device or fibre.

We also use WM to track the network/server infrastructure of our headquarters and offices around Europe.
Most of them contain sensitive data, but here is a couple of exemples.

The first one shows one of the switches with port status & port usage. There is one for every switches with the main network (and some of the graphs) always present.

The second one shows our HQ critical servers and graphs for our main databases. It also shows status on critical elements as texts. I have aout 5 identical one rotating on a monitor with different graphs/infos.

I also have geomaps with the vpns, supervision maps of our factory floor and some of the machines, but I can't show them here.

Cacti/Weathermap are fantastic tools.

PS : There are a few bugs because the monitoring server died a few months back, and I discovered I never saved the config file, so I had to spend a few days redoing them all. I still have a few things to tweak.

I would like to share one of my best creations VPN map:
Among features on the map:
devices status (up/down) color change,
device info when you put mouse over it,
device administration directly from the map using special browser enabled putty for both SSH and telnet,
48hr Video playback (in the top right conner),
Individual VPN tunnel uptime extracted by weathermap directly from CISCO ASA using OIDs specific to each tunnel.... (This feature is from SVN .98 current development: Thanks Howie )...
All tunnels and uptime change colors to red when tunnel is in down state...
All sites have 3 ways of measurements. Ping of secondary circuit by cacti thru purblic IP, ping of primary circuit thru a different Internet pipe and ping thru the tunnel (private ping).
Response time and loss for each of the 3 ways presented in table..
Interfaces where circuits connected to are indicated on map and change color when status changes...
Circuits status indicated by green arrow up or down change color when circuit changes state due to the ping loss/unavailability...
Some of the statistics are extracted directy from an end device router, but other are extracted using the ASA VPN statistics script.. Located here: http://forums.cacti.net/about27211.html


And one of the best features: CISCO ASA tunnel administration directly from the map... It required a pre-canned "expect" script from CISCO and some custom coding and an additional "popup" function added to Weather to collect user credential for tunnel administration...

I think that is it in terms of features..

Map creation time: about 3 weeks. Lots of work but very worth it.... We have pretty much moved exclusively to network monitoring via Cacti and to the large degree Weathermap contributed to the switch..
