Rossco - Please find enclosed the binary required, along with a blank config file. You will either need a full copy of Cygwin (it requires full Crypto support), or the basic files, located in the c:\cygwin\bin directory:
cygcrypto-0.9.8.dll
cygfreetype-6.dll
cygiconv-2.dll
cygintl-3.dll
cygintl-8.dll
cygncurses-8.dll
cygpng12.dll
cygreadline6.dll
cygwin1.dll
cygz.dll
sh.exe
Don't forget to change the .conf file to reflect the username and password for your CACTI database. Also, don't use localhost for the server connection, as this doesn't work under windows - it needs to be set at 127.0.0.1.
If you are not going to install Cygwin on the CACTI server, and are just going to use the files I have listed above, you also need to add
c:\cygwin\bin;
to your path environment variable.
Good luck

It should be the same. I performed a diff against the source prior to compiling and it was identical.

OK guys,
Now i am really confused. I tried compiling my own version, and I ran into some problems when i tried to compile the MySQL stuff, and i got a fatal error. So i decided to try the ones that MCutting and TheWitness posted. Both of them caused me problems. Namely, it takes longer for my poller to run, but even bigger, even after the poller stops, i have 4 instances of php.exe still running, and 4 instances of cactid.exe still running.
Can anyone think of why this is happening? I don't critically need the new cactid, but i am having problems with sh.exe hanging and runaway exe's with the current version i am running.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

App - possibly a daft question, but did you either terminate the php.exe processes, or restart the box before you deployed the new CACTID ? This has been running flawlessly for me since I deployed it.
Also, how many script servers are you running with each poll ?

I did terminate all the cactid and php processes before i deployed the new version. I am also pretty sure i rebooted before i did it, but i cannot be 100% sure.
Here are my current poller settings. Should i stop the poller from running, reboot the server, and then try using the new cactid?
let me know

Disable the poller in CACTI, terminate any running process, reboot the server. Set the concurrent pollers down to 2, and change the CACTID binary.
Re-enable the poller, and try it again - let me know how you get on.

new version
Hi Chaps
Sorry to hear you are having issues apperrault - I had two issues that were outstanding and made me want to try the new poller (I updated to latest cygwin as well).
1) Whenever I ran external scripts I would get popen errors and neverending sh.exe/php.exe processes.
2) For some bizarre reason I would get snmp data from three ucd/net[freebsd running net-snmp] hosts missing for days at a time, then it would restart randomly- nothing else was effected (all other kit is cisco).
This has solved problem 1 and I can now do my cisco qos scripts happily
The loss of data (note I would never get timeouts, just missing data and only for these hosts) has been resolved by turning off boost v1.2. It means my polling time has gone up by 30-40seconds, but I'd rather have my data.
Thanks for your help guys.
Kind Regards
Rossco

Rosco,
Boost 1.4 had a fix for some data queries. I worked on this with a user the other day. As far as cactid is concerned, what do you have in your Cactid directory? Can you post a log from your Cacti where you were having problems? MEDIUM level is fine.
Also, do you have any stackdump files in your Cactid directory?
