SNMP problem?

Post by abudhamnhet »

Hello all,

I am a n00b to this forum and somewhat new to SNMP. Your expertise is greatly appreciated.

I have been using cacti for two weeks and recently I lost the SNMP graphs. They show up, but no data. I have went to the FAQ's and help guides, but have not really found any solution. Permissions are fine. The rrd data is being collected for everything but SNMP. I run an snmpwalk for system and get results. I do a walk for network devices and just get "END of MIB" Example:

root@box:/# snmpwalk -v 1 -c public 127.0.0.1 .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1
End of MIB

Here is the output for a system snmpwalk:

root@box:/# snmpwalk -v 1 -c public 127.0.0.1 system
SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Linux box 2.6.20-15-server #2 SMP Sun Apr 15 07:41:34 UTC 2007 i686

SNMPv2-MIB::sysORUpTime.9 = Timeticks: (29) 0:00:00.29
End of MIB

Now, when I get into cacti and do a verbose query for SNMP - interface statistics, I get this:

+ Running data query [1].
+ Found type = '3' [snmp query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/usr/share/cacti/site/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1'
+ No SNMP data returned
+ Found data query XML file at '/usr/share/cacti/site/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ Found data query XML file at '/usr/share/cacti/site/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ Found data query XML file at '/usr/share/cacti/site/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'

The "No SNMP data returned" is the issue I believe. I don't know where or why this is. Please help.

Has anyone ever had this type of issue? Any help would be great.

Please try minimalistic snmpd.conf setup for your target. See HowTo sectio at docs.cacti.net for more

Thank you. I will try that right now.
