stupid question smnp oid create

hello [at] all

is it possible to generate my own snmp/oid ? for example if i write program i n vb... or in something else ...is it possible to send my own oid ?

i know that it is possible to generate a snmp trap...
but with syslog/Haloe you only can not capture...

Yes, it's possible to create a program that hooks itself into the systems snmp agent -- don't ask me how though ;-).

Several options are available: SNMP pass/exec options will call scripts running on the target host. Visit the SNMP HowTo Chapter at docs.cacti.net.
If you want to create an own SNMP agent, this is possible as well. See net-snmp-users mailing list and appropriate website (but no visual basic, AFAIK)
