'Unix - Ping Latency' Acting differently in two installs

Post by tkdan235 »

I have two cacti servers with the intent to move to the newest one. One is 0.8.6h and the other is 0.8.6i. When I setup the ping latency graphs, the 0.8.6h version allows me to enter the ip address to ping, the 0.8.6i does not even give me this field. Here are screenshots below:

Any idea on how to get my 0.6.8i version to let me enter an IP to ping?

Please carefully compare both Data Templates, especially pay attention to the checkboxes on the left side

thanks for your help, I did not realize that a single checkbox is the cause of this issue. This did fix the problem! =)

Below attached is where the checkbox is located, within the Data Template for 'Unix - Ping Latency'

I have a question: Do I always have to set an IP address here?
I mean if I create a ping latency for a host it should be obvious that I want to ping this host and not another... Am I getting something wrong here?
So when I leave the field blank will it ping the associated host??

I agree; but I do not use this script. You may change it to accept |host_hostname| (the target's host's name) as an input parameter.
