I somehow managed to hit a bump in getting things setup.
I'm using FreeBSD 6.1, php5, mysql5, and cacti -0.8.6j.3, and it works fine. However mactrack I have issues with.
I downloaded and installed the plugin architecture.
Unzipped mactrack to /plugins/mactrack
Copied over /plugins/mactrack/patched files to /usr/local/share/cacti/
Editing /include/config.php, and added:
$plugins = array();
$plugins[] = 'mactrac';
/* Do not edit this line */
$config = array();
I also did all the mysql stuff. However when I logged in to Cacti, I see no new tabs. I'm not sure where to start debugging what I did wrong, and help would be appreciated.

First, use the plugins svn version of MacTrack at the Cacti website. You can get it using the following address:
svn://var/svnroot/cacti_plugins
You will also get a heap of other plugins.
Then also run the database_upgrade.php file as well. It is in the mactrack plugin folder.

Hi all,
Now I have a wierd problem, I cannot see any table rows in all the mactrack pages, please see screenshoot below in order to better understand.
The database tables are populated, but somehow the php page does not show them.
System is an opensuse 10.2, cacti version 0.8.6h, plugin framework 1.0, mactrack downloaded yesterday from the plugins site, cacti patched with the framework (I did not copied directly the patch files)
