Appreciation

Post by Dacob9906 »

So, I wasn't quite sure where to post this, so I just put it here. I just thought it would be nice to have somewhere that we can all post our appreciation for everything that the Cacti group does. I don't know a whole lot about programming or even the cacti project yet, (just getting it up and running, kinda new) but I know that they spend hours every week working on this; providing everyone with a tool that would otherwise cost thousands of dollars to purchase. I think you guys are all great, whoever you all are, I'm sure I will get to know some of you, I hope. So I just wanted to say thanks for everything you do and all the time that you put into this project, and all the help I will recieve in the future. :D

Thanks guys

Appreciation should be done in a more formal setting...

We need to arrange a Cacti Users Group Conference, in Vegas...

Hi StarLog,
we currently try to schedule the 2.CactiCommunityConference.eu to the 19.-21.October 2007 at the Linuxhotel in Essen. It's really the best location for such events and very cheap for OpenSourceCommunities (including a flat rate for beer  ). Look at http://www.linuxhotel.de. We are disussing the agenda and timeline. Do You have any ideas and suggestions?? Where do you live??

Best regards

Thank you so much Ian, Larry, Tony, and Jimmy! Our business completely depends on Cacti to operate. Without it, not much would happen :P

This is one of the best Open Source projects out there. So much support for free. Just wanted to thank you guys!

9 Months with cacti!
I wanted to say that this is a great tool for me. Since 9 Months ago, my Cacti box (CactiEZ) has evolved to include flowscan (right in Cacti), then I added IDS (using the same port that collect the flowscan data), and then a continous tcpdumper with a script to timestamp each tcpdump file (25Meg files). I then soon just about run out of space, so I set up a NSLU1 linksys ftp with a 300Gig HDD to have backups and the dump files transfered there via automatic scripts to hold 2 weeks of backups, and 2 months of dumps. Now I've integrated the 'docs' plugin and changed the main console page to include recent news! I include now Reports, ReportIt, aggregate, and more. Weathermap is also a sweet addon for bosses, they LOVE IT!!!
I am constantly making small changes to best suit fit for our company, and I wanted to bragg abit, and say thanks! If I had of went with Solarwinds, or something similar, even though there are more features, I would not have the flexibility to modify to do that.
Keep up the great work Cacti Community! I learned lots about my network, and I learned a great deal of Linux! Can't wait to see the what the future years of development will bring!

I also wanted to add that the support is great also! You guys are doing great at keeping us cactitians happy!!!
