Dear all,
I am newbie in cacti and I have a little problem, I used MRTG with routers2.cgi and able to write name on every interface Name/ Alias (eg. i set description "Local-LAN interface" of my routers fe0/0/1) and able to get this description on my graph PNG also. please help me, In cacti how can I get/ write interface description on my graph PNG. ????

Interface description is derived from SNMP if, and only if, the target defines the appropriate OID. Verify this from the interface table of the device (when clicking "Create Graphs for this Device").
But be aware, that there are several possibilities to define the title of graphs. Find them at the Data Query "Interface Traffic", when selecting your graph template. The "Suggested Names" Section holds all currently defined rules. You may change the sequence of those rules. If you do so, please visit Graph Management afterwards, select your garphs and select the action "Reapply Suggested Names"

I did all these but still not getting my own define description (e.g ToLANDirectInterface ) beside thiis description cacti collects .2 .70 or .3 numbers. plzz help.

But |query_ifAlias| gets my Juniper router's interface description and when I try to get my Cisco switch interfaces description its shows .1 ,.3 or .70 etc..

Help plzz.

Please post the output of

snmpwalk -c <your community string> -v 1 <your target> interface

This will allow checking, if the basic data is provided by the device.
