Sporatic graphs (stale?)
Hello,
I have approx 180 hosts with 3200 datasources, and the with latest round of machines I have added - not all are being graphed all the time. In the last 24 hours there maybe have been about 30 minutes worth of graphics, sporatically through-out the time period.
Its not the machine or the process as it's graphing other things just fine.
The targets are not changing (OS, layer2/3 stuff) .... it will graph fine for about 10 minutes and then nothing for 10 hours. Looking through the poller output, I get the below (only error is at the bottom). This error occurs with it graphing or not. During this cacti-outage, I am able to snmpwalk just fine .....
Thoughts? Graphs are not putting out "Nan"s... apparently using the last value recorded - so it's like it's stale or something.

I am not getting NaNs. However, yes I looked over the page but nothing stands out. The debug output (from what I can see) is exactly the same if it graphs or doesn't graph. No errors or warnings except for that integer that I posted.gandalf wrote:You surely tried my "NaN Debugging Stuff" found at the second link of my signature?

Also, I have tried patched "h" with no changes to the outcome; also tried "j" which totally bombed didn't graph anything.
However, I am on a patched "i" which is giving me the best results but still the issue ... some servers continue to graph with no issues, but identical servers (OS, subnet, snmp...) only like 10% of the time.
I will be more than happy to paste anything you would like if it would help.
Thanks,
- gandalf

You ARE gettings NaNs, for sure. But "rrdgraph ... last" will always show the last VALID non-NaN data. So you simple don't see it on the legend.
Please start at the debugging stuff when it comes to DEBUG polling. Post the output of the SNMP/Script at a time where data is missing. Then let's step forwards. Perhaps I will have to update my HowTo later on

Thanks for clearing that up for me then. I will run through a new Debug session before I leave for the day - if not, it will be Monday. Thanks again, gandalf wrote:You ARE gettings NaNs, for sure. Thanks for the help gandalf. Here is the results for a host that is exhibiting this issue; let me know if you need anything else.

Fine, this part seems to be good. Did the graph show valid data for that point in time?
BTB: If it always the same host that fails, you may ease debugging by manually running the poller for that host only. For cmd.php, use, for cactid use . The first case needs logging level set to DEBUG, the second one defines debug logging as an input parm. <host> is the ID of the host (the one found at Host[..])

BTB: If it always the same host that fails, you may ease debugging by manually running the poller for that host only. For cmd.php, use
Code: Select all
php -q cmd.php <host> <host>
Code: Select all
./cactid --verbosity=5 <host> <host>
Reinhard
Hi Reinhard,
Here is the debug manual poller output for the 199 host.
No, it was not generating any graphs during that time benig when I posted the last time. And I just ran the below, so I can't tell if it's graphed as of yet. I don't think so.
Do you see anything out of the ordinary here? Thanks,

Yes. Data gathering runs fine. But rrdtool update statements are missing. Recently, there was a bug with rrdtool_init, see http://forums.cacti.net/post-92688.htmlgwooden wrote:Hi Reinhard,
Here is the debug manual poller output for the 199 host.
No, it was not generating any graphs during that time benig when I posted the last time. And I just ran the below, so I can't tell if it's graphed as of yet. I don't think so.
Do you see anything out of the ordinary here? Thanks,
Reinhard
Resovled
Thanks Reinhard - that was it. Simply updating RRDTool from 1.0.50 to the latest 1.2.18 resolved the spuratic images. As you can see, solid graphs.
Now to get my BigIP LTM6800s and Foundry XL/GT450's to graph correctly.....
