Hi all:
I'm currently managing a consumer web service, and I found cacti to be very useful in monitoring time-series data (i.e. disk usage, traffic rate...). However, I also have the need to gather non-time-series data for plotting in histograms and pie charts (i.e. subscribed user's age ranges, locations...)
Is it possible to extend cacti to plot histogram/pie charts? If not, is there any application that can fulfill both of my requirements? I don't mind paying $$ for this application as long as it is robust and easy to use.
Thanks,
Stanley
Using cacti to plot histogram/pie charts?

Cacti is a rrdtool frontend. rrdtool does not support pie-charts, so cacti does not.
In general, this might be achieved by creating a custom plugin. But I'm not aware of any. Apart from this, cacti does not store values outside rrd files, so even a plugin would be limited to that.
Please visit http://ww.notp.org to find some other networking tool which creates pie-charts apart from rrdtool files. But the goal of ntop is primarily flow scanning
