Windows All-In-One Installer [Cacti 1.2.24] [Updated 2023-03-09]
Moderators: Developers, Moderators
Looks like the NTFS security wasn't properly applied during the install. Read my install guide for where to apply it. http://bsod2600.home.comcast.net/install_windows.html
Check rrdtool.exe and cmd.exe first.

Filemon doesn't give any access errors
Double checked NFTS security and can't find any access problems
Create a separate post and post a Filemon log when you try to just view a graph.D3LTA wrote:Filemon doesn't give any access errors

1) Did you install it to the C: drive or somewhere else? If it wasn't the C: drive, then you need to manually update the paths in cacti's settings.
2) Turn on graph debugging and see what the error is.

Hello... i'm new to this so please be easy on me. I installed the software onto a win2k3 server and the prerequisites (IIS/SNMP) were installed. The software installation went without a hitch and I performed the post-installation steps prior to rebooting.
I was able to pullup the site (http:\\localhost\cacti), however, the username (admin) and password (admin) is not being accepted. I also tried logging into MySQL and am not able to use the username (root) and password (cactipw) to log on. Am I missing something here. THe error message I receive when trying to log onto cacti via the browser is: Invalid User Name/Password Please Retype. The error I receive when trying to log onto MySql is:
Could not connect to the specified instance.
MySQL Error Number 1045
Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
If you want to check the network connection, please click the Ping button.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks...

Forget it ... I got it working. I had the passwords mixed up and now I'm able to log into cacti. I was also seeing the graphs not displayed properly but just applied the NTFS permissions fix. I hope that does it..
Sure -- thats what I use for testing/building this installer. Just make sure you have vmware's network set up properly.

Re-read the post-installation instructions and make sure ALL of the steps regarding PHP in IIS have been completed.

PHP has encountered an Access Violation at .....
Your installer (1.5) worked well for me but every so often I get a "PHP has encountered an Access Violation at ..." message.
This seems to be a known bug with php 5.2.1.x and that is documented at http://forums.cacti.net/about18917.html
The suggestion is to revert to PHP version 5.1.6 but that is harder to accomplish than it might seem, since your installer handled the original 5.2.1.x install for PHP.
Is there a quick way to fix this? I tried renaming my php folder and putting a copy of php 5.1.6 there instead but that didn't work. This was probably due to some changes that your installer arranges that were not applied to my copy of 5.1.6.
I have reverted to 5.2.1.x for now.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
David

Re: PHP has encountered an Access Violation at .....
Download the zip file version of php (it contains all the extensions), stop all IIS services, extract the zip file and overwrite your existing c:\php folder (except for php.ini!), start up IIS services. Thats it. From the command prompt type: php -m to verify the version and modules.davidatsl wrote:Is there a quick way to fix this?
