Graph Spikes?

What is unit of measurement for the min max variables so I can filter out the graph spikes? When I used MRTG I could set MAX and ABSMax value for each interface, by default it was the max speed of the ethernet interface.

just as an example:
today when one of the routers was reset the traffic jumped to 150M for a one minute polling interval for that interface. Everything else on the graph for that 24 hour period is now unreadable. I know this is not a fault of the cacti application but with rrd.

The unit in case of traffic counters is bytes per second.
