The latest haloe / syslog plugin has a "Removal Rules" which can be used to delete unwanted messages, even all messages from a specific host.

Other than that, you would have to tell us what syslog agent you are using, show us your configs. And then we would point you to the relevant Google links that you could have already found.

hostname removal

Wouldnt adding a removal rule with your hostname in it, take care of that?
If all else fails, rm -rf /

Exactly what I said above.

Granted, it seems he wants to completely stop it from going, not just remove it from the database. We can't help him until he at least tells us that syslog to mysql logger he is using. Is it syslog-ng? Is it msyslog? We also need a peak at the appropriate config files.

I use the removal tool, it works great for that.
I create a rule, then delete the rule, that way I can still store the syslogs in case I have a problem with the CactiEZ server. One thing though, you might think, how the h*ll am I to find an error, when there's 5000 syslogs, that's what the search function above is for.
Though I wouldn't consider it a much needed thing, if I was really fussy (which I am, but not for this topic) It may be good to be able to tell nagios, Cacti, and all the other software one may have, to only send out critical, or emergency messages. That's just something I think a few others may want. As far as I am concerned, and seems like many others, the removal function is good enough. I doubt the syslogging is causing any significant, or even minor, performance issues for your server. cigamit, or anyone else to clarify?
