Personally, I just wrote a set of scripts. I didn't use the NMON rrd file.
I have a script that collects the data as root and pushes the output file to the cacti server. Then there is a script on the cacti server that reads that file to get the values I'm interested in graphing.
If you want to use the rrdtool file from nmon, I would suggest doing a rrdtool dump on the file to get the defined DS's. Then create a Datasource using that rrd file with the proper DS's configured. Make sure you uncheck the "Data Source Active" in the Datasource, so that cacti does not attempt to update it.

Hi Rony,
I've been tossing up the best way to get stats from my AIX boxen. I've tried IBM's snmp -> YUCK, net-snmp -> no interface stats , and nmon. I like the data that nmon collects, but I'd like it to be intergrated into cacti.
Are you in a position to post the scripts that you use? Do you use nmon logging to a file then push this data to a cacti server, or do you collect the data yourself?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Wayne.
