split cacti install

i had cacti installed and running fine using cactid. one day, yum decided to update cacti, bad idea. I am now stuck with 2 cacti installs using the same db. it reads half the scripts from 1 install and the other half form the other install. i am going to rebuild a new box for this. whats the best way to backup and get this going on another box? whast the best way to gather info from both installs?
