1st off - nice template love it...
only n00b question on the left side for units i see 10m 8m 6m 4m
is that suppose to be m = million?
If so how does one go about changing the unit... I think on average our printers print in the hundred / thousand range never million per day... ten thounds per month...

Printer MIB / SNMP Application
I am looking for a web based application that can pull the printer MIB data from remote networked printers. I am primarily interested in the supplies calculation. Do you have or know of such an application?

Well... Cacti itself... But you need to know the MIBs for the printer.
For most SNMP-enabled printers this isn't an issue. Recently I've found that KonicaMinolta refuse to give out the MIBs for my recently rented Bizhub c252. For which I will remember them gravely..
You might want to try the template at the beginning of this thread, as I think its intended as a generic one.

I'm getting a weird error with the printer_supply.xml
I'm not getting any results returned from this, but the snmpwalk works juts fine for the all the OID's except the first one. I tried taking out that first one but it still has the same problem. Any ideas?[/code]

Yes, an image would help. I'm quite sure to be able to explain ...apperrault wrote:Hi All, i just installed this printer script, and i have a couple questions. That XML seems to be broken. Either the original one or your copy is corruptedGir wrote:I'm getting a weird error with the printer_supply.xml

Total Pages with zero value
Hi all,
I have instaled this script, and it work well (with some modificatios for my printers Xerox Phser and Docuprinter) and the problem is that in snmpwalk I can see the total pages number, but there is no value in graphic.
Can anyone help me?

I've managed to correct the data and graph templates and SNMP Query so now I see
the total printed pages in graphs and all other stuff too. I've tested the templates on:
Xerox WorkCentre Pro 35 PS
HP Color LaserJet 4600 PCL 5c
and they work pretty well.
Enjoy

HP Jetdirect 3 ports
When i used this printer snmp template, i only can query 1 printer thats connect to port 1.
How can query from the other ports?
What is the OID for the second and third port?

i run snmp to query external HP Jetdirect with 3 parallel port.
gandalf wrote:That depends on the way you want to get things graphed. When using a COUNTER, you will get differences between polling intervals (perhaps normalized to a minute or so). That's your current settings.
But you may change to GAUGE to get those "increasing" values. So it depends on your likings

And by using the Summing function (see manual), it is well possible to get the totals (relative tpo the timespan of the current graph) displayed. You you may get daily total, weekly total ...
I've been using the SNMP Printer Template and have not been able to get total printed pages to return increasing values. gandalf suggested changing to GAUGE to get the increasing values and to "rrdtool tune" which referred to a Summing function. I was able to change to GAUGE but cannot find any information on summing printers.
I also tried updating my templates using terziyski changes but I'm still seeing printed pages based on COUNTER values (only shows pages based on time).terziyski wrote:I've managed to correct the data and graph templates and SNMP Query so now I see

How can I get the total printed pages to display on the graph? I would expect it to start graphing based on total page count. From what I understand about Cacti if our printer already has 500,000 impressions when Cacti starts graphing data it will start at 500,000 right? That way I could see the differences in daily, weekly, monthly, etc and the true page count would show in the legend.
Anyone got this working correctly?
Thanks
Jeff
I was able to get the total printed pages using just the Generic OID Template for SNMP instead. I'm not sure what other people are doing to this template to get it to graph total values but this seemed like the simplest solution.
Although, I'm still using this template because it shows the activity on the printer. I did change the title of the SNMP printer graph and removed "Total" since the total was not included anywhere on the graph. It would make more sense to call the graph "Printed pages activity" or something similar.
