Validation error in Graph Management

Post by paulgevers »

Recently I did a long overdue update of my webserver (Debian, testing). Since the update I not able to edit my non-template based Cacti graphs. When I go via "Graph Management" to a specific graph I can not add a new graph item or edit one because I get a "Validation error". I have tried to find documentation about this on this site, but with no success.

Does somebody have an idea where to look for the solution? Is there a way to get information of these issues into log files? Currently there is no error mentioned in any log file.

My server runs Debian testing with Cacti 0.8.6h

Make sure that Cacti is patched and that your database server is not running "sql_mode=strict" or anything else for that matter.

Debian has patches installed

Post by paulgevers »

Luckily I did not need to patch myself, because Debian comes with patched package. So my cacti is patched against the latest official patch. Also my mysql does not run "sql_mode=strict":

Code: Select all

mysql> show variables like 'sql_mode';
+---------------+-------+
| Variable_name | Value |
+---------------+-------+
| sql_mode | |
+---------------+-------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
and

Code: Select all

mysql> show global variables like 'sql_mode';
+---------------+-------+
| Variable_name | Value |
+---------------+-------+
| sql_mode | |
+---------------+-------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
So any other ideas?

Hmm, do a screen shot of the various errors. This is definately a bug then. Also goto http://bugs.cacti.net and open a bug report. Include the screen shots in both locations.

When you are hovering over item1, right click and save the shortcut to the clipboard and paste it to your next post so I can see what's wrong with the URL you are passing to the browser. There are some bad characters that Cacti is puking on.

Right click: http://xxx.nl/cacti/graphs_items.php?ac ... raph_id=46

Just as a reminder, all my graphs have this problem, not just this item.

I am having the same error. I noticed it when I use the time span selector in 'graph' view. I choose a new time frame, and click the 'refresh' button, and I get:

Validation error.

Re: Validation error in Graph Management

Post by silverarrow »

I know that this is an old conversation but I have the same problem (Validation error.).

I just upgraded from 0.8.7.g to 0.8.8.a and I'm getting this now when I try to manage my tree (Graph Management).

I'm running Debian:

# lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Debian
Description: Debian GNU/Linux 7.6 (n/a)
Release: 7.6
Codename: n/a

and mysql version is: Server version: 5.5.37-0+wheezy1 (Debian).

Any help (for dummies please) will be highly appreciated.

Thanks!
