Balanced Score Card Graphs with CACTI

Post by fabio »

Hello,

I am thinking about a plugin that could create items which would collect (check) the status of the polling of some selected graph (being graphed normally) that you indicate by checking some box, and if the polling was succesful about those graphs and the value was collected (RDD updated with value X), then for example you add "1", and if there was any problem with the polling (or some threshold was exceeded), then you add "0". The ratio of sucess is then calculated against the total number of graphs selected for that item, and that is graphed as a normal rrd file (%).

I am not a developer, but I think that some of you guys who are experts in php and mysql would create it quite quickly...

In my oppinion, this would be very useful to translate the status of integrity of our networks and servers (metrics), to a Balanced Score Card about our IT services, and very attractive for managers also.

If something is bad written or the idea is not clear, feel free to contact me to discuss about it and make it grow and possible.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Fabian.

Hey guys,

it's me again. I was thinking about this feature request, and I have thought that it would be also great to be able to assign weights to each of that indicators that conform the global item subject to monitorization.

Kindest regards,

Fabian.

Fabian,

Are you running THold? Can you perform an assessment of what may be missing there and provide additional feedback?

Hi The Witness,

I am running THold, but I have only used it for triggering notifications above limits, I didn't know that it could do something else. Nevertheless I am thinking about aggregating information and get ratios. I can't see how could I make them with THold.

I was wondering to make these ratios about aggregated information on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with CDEFs manually created, but it is not scalable and I don't like it.

Tell me what do you think about this. Maybe THold is the plugin that could somehow make this that I am thinking of.

Thanks for your quick response. Best Regards,

Fabian.

Ok,

I now understand what you are asking for. Unfortunately, I would not be able to get to something like that anytime soon with my workload. I hav a number of current priorities. They include:

0) Work on an Undisclosed Plugin
1) Next Version of MacTrack
2) Reworking the DataQuery Plugin
3) Certifying and Re-Releasing Manage Plugin

I'm sure I forgot about a few :( :)
